Imagination

Imagination

My imagination is made from –

Books

Piled up in my brain

Sights like

Mirages on the Sahara desert

as hot as a stove on full heat

I found it

Where the sea meets the shore

and a lone badger desperately rummages through a dump

Where a shadow creeps down a street

as dark as a solar eclipse on the moon

My imagination can-

Make me good and make me bad

It can make me go to far but also create success

it will go to far and end up blank.

If I lost my imagination-

Everything would go dark

and nothing would be there to push me on.

Chapter 4

I’m ready to run but there is only the back of the cave facing the red egg glows and l notice that it is covered in tiny  freckles of gold . but we are trapped ! it’s then that  toosy starts  talking, in a low , soothing voice  “it’s ok,” she says, taking a step forwards .

The listmander pansies in front of Toosy she says it is ok we are not trying to hurt you . She stretched her arm out in front of the listmader and the egg in her parm over her hand i sotid Toosy what

are you doing I said . It is working. It’s working  the listmader later out a hish . Harry finally gets out of here . we talk one step to the right and we are out of there  .

Outside, I take a deep breath and sigh with relief. Inside, we hear the lisdmander shuffle towards its nest and the sound of it settling down to keep its precious egg warm and safe.

The mist has cleared. A bright moon eyes the beach and stars stud the dark sky, their reflections speckle the sea. All is still. We walk back towards the promenade and talk. No one must find the cave. No one must find the lisdmander and her precious egg.Toosy talks rapidly about what we need to do. She is full of ideas – pretend there has been a rockfall and report it to the local council. Get more signs up, banning people from that end of the beach as the cliffs are unsafe. I listen as she speaks at a mile an hour pace, her face determined and forceful.

By the time we are walking through the town, it is waking up. The sun edges over the still sea.It casts shadows across the sands.  is putting out a few deckchairs as it looks as if it might be a lovely day for once. He waves to us with a cheery grin. Chris’s Corner Caff is opening and he’s inside brewing up an urn of tea. Mrs Butcher pulls down the awning at her Bucket & Spade corner shop. She sets out piles of beach umbrellas, water wings for little ones and beach boards of all colours. By the time we get to the museum, the morning traffic has begun. Cars snake past us on their way to the seafront car park.

Toosy wanders over to look at the ‘Showcase of Beach-combing’. I stand beside her and she points to the fragments of sea-worn glass. And she’s found some that are red. Red, speckled with gold. We look at each, both thinking the same thought.

All day, Toosy has her nose stuck in books, ancient logs and records. In a leather-bound volume, she finds a captain’s log written in 1867. It is the story of a fishing vessel that netted what the fishermen believed to be a huge, smooth rock that glowed red with speckles of gold. They kept the find but that night, the rock shattered and the Captain told the story of how the ship had been visited by the devil’s cat. They had only just managed to capture it and throw it into the sea. Ever since then, fishermen have an unspoken bond to capture and kill any species of mander that they might find.

That evening, we talked. Our adventure is not over. It has only just begun.

Chapter 3

Three days later and we are in my little room. We sit in silence  taking slow sips of a hot chocolate and devouring a digestive , my favourite drink and biscuit. Outside the  wind is howling and a court of mist covers the town but inside the fire keeps us warm from the bitter cold. “Harry,  seriously, you must help me.” Here we go again I think.

It turns out that Toosy has spent  hours in the freezing cold, hanging around the pier and searching up and down the length of the beach. She claims to have seen suspicious footprints, just like the ones in the hotel.

I lock up the museum and make sure that all the windows are closed and curtains shut and lights are switched off before we leave. Toosy and I made sure we brought torches and I rolled up in my slader coat. “Come on Harry” moans Toosy. “Where are we going again, to the cave under the hotel?” asks Harry.

I hadn’t believed Toosy but the footprints are quite clear . There are two sets of prints, one leading  across the sand and into the dark mouth of a cave . The other set of prints leads  back into the sea . “Come on, let’s seize the moment,” mutters Toosy, clicking on her  torch. I’m  not feeling like seizing anything but once again, I have the feeling that Toosy is leading me in trouble!

The dark cave, which is darker than midnight, smells like a rotten fish.  Harry shouts, Toosy look an egg!” Toosy replies “wow Harry I have never seen an egg like this, what animal do you think it is?

At that moment, I feel a sharp stab of guilt that we should not be here. It is not right. “Let’s go”, I hiss tugging at Toosy sleeve and turning to make it back to the museum for safety. But our way is blocked. It was not just me and Toosy, it was something moving in the darkness of the mouth of the cave. It was the lisdmander! Toosy steps forward, I step back

Chapter 2

“I am sorry, where are my manners? My name is Toosy Roller,” she said “and I have seen it!” “What?” I said, “the monster!” I replied. “oh where are my manners too, I am Harry Blower!” I saw it in the abandoned hotel where I lost my golden ring that I got when my mum died. Can you help me get it back please? It is the only mamry over her she said. Finer, I will help you .

Here we are at the Grand Nautilus Hotel. “One of my friends works here,” I said. “ I knew the boss of the fish and chip shop.” I said. “What was your friend’s name?” she said. His name is Herd Lemon.” We were on level 48 at room 186, trying nto get into the room for safety.

“What? we do not have the  key?” she said. The door is locked. I was trying to bang the door down, suddenly, I clicked the door  open . “Look, my  ring!” she said. “Toosy, did you hear that?” “Hear what? errrrr Harry the… the lisdmander!”

Prologue

You’ve probably been to  Sunning on the Beach . In summer you probably dug big holes in the sand or built sandcastles, skimmed rocks out to sea or maybe got food like doughnuts, fish and chips or ice- cream. Go swimming  after an hour or 2 if you had that food. You can have all of that… in the summer.

But in the winter, you are probably scared to go to the beach. Know that you can not run from the wind and you will want something warm, like tea or coffee so come in the summer and not the winter.

Chapter 1

My name is Harry Blower and I work in a museum called the Sunning beach museum. Ido the lost and found and I live in the lost and found room with all of the lost stuff.I was near the end of my shift so I went to my room for the night, I locked the doors and read my book.

I was sitting in my room when I heard  a noise. There was a girl knocking at my window and she said let me in!” so I did because I didn’t want her to stay out there in the bitter cold. She said “hide me!”

Before I continue  you should  know something. There is something in our town that  I should  tell you. A year ago, I am pretty sure or something like that, a creature came out on a stormy night. It was  dark, but not dark enough to not see his emerald green eyes. They say he smelt like fish and can see fish man bones inside of his body.

It is call the lisdmanderand evry time there is a  dark and stormy night they locked their doors and suter they cert
