What are You?
What Are You?
You are an unknown
element waiting to be uncovered.
You are a silent scream,
reflecting in and out of the barriers of danger.
You are a unique and frail
china doll, seated uncomfortably
in the the glass walls of a fragile cupboard,
hoping you won’t be posing in there forevermore.
You are the impossible question,
waiting for what will never arrive: an answer.
You are the bitter taste of a freshly cut lemon,
concealed in a grandma’s jumper pocket.
You are the smell of fear,
creating a cruel nightmare,
worrying a little girl.
You are a curious cookery book,
determined to interpret every step of life.
You are pain,
scraping violently into the hands
of an undeserving little boy.
You are as slow as prey,
as fast as a predator,
and as quiet as air.
You are a book’s pages
and a candle’s flames.
You are the impossibility of
a cold volcano,
the end of a rainbow
and a fast snail.
You are the end of this story, but the beginning of another…
