A Skyship Adventure Story Part 3
I rapidly spun around and peered into the gloom behind me. It was almost impossible to see but I could just make out the outline of a miniscule pixie curled up in the darkness. I reached out and gently lifted up the child. I lay the sleeping infant’s head on my chest and felt her nestle into me. I gestured to Max to exit the hole. Once we retreated from the pit I took a closer look at the sleeping baby.
She was clothed in a ragged dress and some pea – sized lilac shoes. Her short hair was strawberry blonde and hung limply around her face. I could see scratches covering her body, she needed us to help her. I glanced over to my brother. Max, whose flaming ginger curls danced in the evening breeze, gazed lovingly at the tiny pixie. I could tell he desperately wanted to keep the child so I decided that we could look after her, if only for a few days. “Looks like we have a new crew member,” I announced to Max. He grinned at me excitedly.
