Prologue and story opening by Anabelle
Prologue
You’ve probably been on an sky ship when the sky is clear and you can hear the birds singing. Remember how it feels to have the warm wind blowing in your face and to watch dolphins leap out of the sparkling ocean.
I bet you’ve enjoyed watching waves crash gently on the beach and the sun set in the horizon. Also to watch the humming birds drinking nectar and watching caterpillars turn into butterflies.
But you should also try it when the bitter, cold wind nips at your hands and face and the trees are covered in a thick layer of snow. And when the lightning strikes appear in the sky and the clouds get darker and darker until rain pours out of them.
And some say that they’ve seen storm dragons with their goblin riders and weather unicorns circling above their sky ship but when they blink and then open their eyes, they are gone. You probably won’t believe this but if you go on an sky ship in a storm then you can see for yourselves that it is the truth.
Story Opening
Suddenly, the air ship lurched to one side. There was a deafening roar which made Keira and Olivia look up. They went to the edge of the sky ship and looked up into the beautiful, cloudless sky. There was nothing there and they both decided they had imagined it. They were in the middle of the pacific ocean and they both knew that they couldn’t turn back now. Keira couldn’t believe that she was finally leaving her country for once. On the other hand, Olivia was travel sick and the sky ship was a bit wobbly.
They had been in the sky ship for almost 3 days now and they were both exhausted. Captain Mica came to see if they were ok after the sudden movement of the sky ship. Keira was fine and was so happy about finally being able to ride in the sky ship that she hardly noticed the sudden movement. Olivia was fine but wasn’t so happy about being in the sky ship. When Captain Mica went back to steering the ship Keira told Olivia about how she wished she could see the goblins on their storm dragons. Olivia was hoping that they didn’t, but she didn’t say that incase she ruined her friends happiness.
Late on, Captain Mica and the 2 girls woke up to find flames licking at the balloon and could hear the terrifying roars of the storm dragons and the cackles of the goblin riders. “WE’VE GOT TO GO NOW!” Screamed Captain Mica, trying to be heard over the dragons roars. She ran to the wheel and left Keira gawping, open mouthed at the beasts and Olivia trembling behind her. They were both speechless.
