Mythical Mountains

Mythical Mountain

“Sit down, stay safe and prepare for a bumpy ride!” Captain Hanlon was very angry with Millie. She was the one who was distracting him from swerving past the Sky Ghosts. Two minutes later, the Squash-buckler had landed with a big bump. Shivering, the crew peered over the edge of the ship. They were perched on a rocky verge of a grey, looming mountain. They were surrounded by towering trees clinging on just by their roots. A stunning waterfall cascaded over the sheer edge, creating a haze in the sunshine. It smelt so good. Yet, they were in danger. The Squash-buckler was creaking and tilting like a see-saw.

“I am so scared, I just want to cry,” wept Lilly.

“How did we get here?” asked Millie.

“It doesn’t matter, we need to get off the ship, quick. They scrambled onto firm ground.

“We are here, let’s explore. We didn’t come here for nothing did we? We came here for our survival.” Lilly and Millie knew that if they said no they would get in big trouble.

“Yes captain, of course, we need to explore the area for shelter, food and warmth for us to survive.”

Millie scanned the area to make sure she wasn’t in imminent danger. Lilly really didn’t want to explore the island. She had a weird feeling about this. “Come on Lilly, hurry, look how fun this island looks.” She didn’t want to but she didn’t want to stay alone so she went with Millie and Captain Hanlon…

Then all of a sudden, they heard something in the bushes.
