The birthday cake unicorn 

This confetti creature, which is the most upbeat unicorn around, has a trail of glitter and sweets when it speeds off from birthday parties. It flashes all different colours and flies in record time. It leaves hoofprint marks to guide them to the hidden presents and coats them in a thick layer of sequins and glitter for the birthday girl or boy. They are endangered because some hunters mistake them for the Shiny Devils (A close relative to the birthday cake unicorn) who steals the presents. But what exactly are these birthday cake creatures? 

Birthday cake unicorns live under tables and they prefer to be in the dark most of the time. It only hides if the table is covered with a table cloth so that it can’t be seen by children. Some children will get excited when they see it and scare the birthday cake unicorn. They then disappear as soon as they can with their trail following after them. After the people pack up after the party then the unicorns zoom off to bushes and share the cake they have smuggled with their young. They don’t have wings yet so they rely on their parents to supply everything for the first few years of their lives. They then get a good night sleep and go rummaging for food again. 

Birthday cake unicorns have a striking appearance that sets them apart. They have a hardened icing mane which flows in the wind as they fly. Its fur is punctuated in rainbow spots and glitter. Its wings are a soft golden-brown colour and they are dipped in a light pink sugar. Males have deep blue eyes and females have gleaming yellow or purple eyes. Some eyes are rare and are gold and glimmer, they are only seen up close. New-born unicorns don’t have wings but they start to develop when they are 2 or 3.  

The birthday cake unicorn eats leftover cake after the children go to play games. It drinks juice that is still in jugs and swirls icing into it after they drink so their young will be nourished. If they have marshmallows at the party then that’s when birthday cake unicorns are at their best. They fill their mouths with them and smuggle some for their families. If there is a chocolate fountain then they lick it clean; they then let their young clean them and enjoy the chocolate.  

Overall, the birthday cake unicorns are kind and gentle creatures and they clean up after they eat. They write birthday cards for children, it buys a present and then disappears.
