The Vintage Emporium by Tessa

Prologue

There is a place downtown where no one ever goes. People forbid themselves to enter. That place is the Vintage Emporium. It sits in between a broken wall which had been destroyed.

To enter you had to pay a price. You could see lamps flickering through the stained glass window which made civilians worried. Nobody entered, It seemed to dismal to come in. Through the window dolls seemed to look like they were waving even though they weren’t. Suddenly Keisha fell in shock…

Chapter 1

Keisha was always very inquisitive. Her mother had told her that if she follows  someone just because they are suspicious would lead herself to trouble. One warm afternoon, Keisha walked down shoe road but then stumbled upon The Vintage Emporium.

Dust seemed to take place in the building, it was everywhere. There were small thuds coming from the ceiling as if someone was living up there. Red velvet curtains shimmered in the warm toned light. Keisha glanced at the books that laid on a dilapidated bookshelf. An aroma of freshly brewed tea flowed through the emporium. She walked through the dimly lit place uncomfortably since it felt like something or someone was watching her.

Something aught Keisha’s eye, it was a golden lectern decorated in precious jewels that glimmered in the light. On top sat a leather covered book. It was odd that just one single book was there. Keisha opened the book, it seemed like the words created pictures in her disorientated mind. “Hello there!” spoke a calm voice. “Would you like to take a look around?” Suddenly, Keisha fell in shock.

  1. Hi Tessa! This is a very nice piece of work! I wanted to ask what was so special about the emporium that you have to pay to enter the emporium or will it come up? Maybe next time, In paragraph 2 of chapter 1 instead of putting a full stop after every descriptive sentence you could put a semi colon ( ; is a semi colon) Good job!!
