TWE – Chapter 4

“Who are you? What’s going on?” asked Valerie without even turning.

“I could ask you the same question Sugar Plum,” replied a croaky voice. The voice sounded fragile and old. Possibly an old woman, or a witch. “What do you want from me?”.

“I- I was sent here! By the little blue door, with a white frame. The one in The Wonder Emporium!” explained Valerie.

“What door? I don’t see any door apart from that red one, and my front door,” the voice answered. “And I’m feeling hungry for a snack!”.

Valerie quickly turned away, and she knew she had to make a run for it. So she did. She ran. Away from the fireplace, to the front door, she grabbed her coat, opened the door, ran out and ran up the snowy hill, and back to where the door was. She had forgot one little, tiny thing. It was gone. The door had vanished when she got there.

The woman’s cackle grew louder, which meant she was getting closer.

“Please just let me go! I just want to go home. I mean you no harm!” Valerie exclaimed. The door suddenly appeared with a giant flash of golden glitter. The glitter was enough the distract the witch, while Valerie opened the door went through and locked it as if all of this had never even happened.

Soon enough, Valerie was back in the corridor of the shop, and was safe. She had a look around, and went to the red velvet curtain, went through and closed it. Valerie found the book again on the table, and there was one more thing she knew she had to do before she went home. She opened the book, and flipped through each page rapidly, until she finally found her entry. She tore the page out with ease, crumpled it up and put it into her coat pocket. As she left the shop, she heard the jingle of the bell from the outside, as the slowly closed itself.

Valerie smiled as she walked home, knowing this was all just her imagination, or so she thought. As she reached her hand into her right coat pocket, she felt the crumpled paper, of her diary entry touching her fingertips.

2.Why didn’t the witch know about the little blue door with a white frame?
3.Next time read your work because you used she to many times in the same paragraph.
