Chapter 2: Miss Lola’s place
Chapter 2: Miss Lola’s place
The sun rose up. Maya was barely awake. Right in front of her was a beautiful black bird. A crow. There was a piece of paper around its leg so she took it, unfolded it and read it. Surprised, she quickly woke up Mia and Marlin so they could leave immediately. The letter said for them to leave and go to Miss Lola’s place using the map they had. The Phantom troupe were on their way to where they were staying for the night. Time was ticking.
On their way there, all they could hear was the pitter patter of small droplets of rain hitting the ground. It was pouring with rain a few seconds later. It was also very cold and they thought that the cold breeze would blow them away. “Bad weather huh.” Marlin muttered. Silence answered. They had to cross the blood river to get to their destination. Soon after they crossed, they saw a black, foggy outline of a towering castle. It was Miss Lola’s place. They found it.
The three little fox’s found it after a long journey there. It was guarded with these smelly and disgusting goblins. Since they are fox’s, they can dig a borrow to get into the palace of dreams but they had to get closer. As sly as a cheetah jumping up on its prey, they got nearer. They managed to finally see what it looked like clearly. It was a rusty silver colour with one window just like Rapunzel’s tower. There were bronze and silver stripes that travelled all the way around it. Just as soon as they were about to enter, Maya remembered the last thing he wrote down in that letter. “ But do be warned, danger may come for you!”
It took a while for them to get in Miss Lola’s place. Worried that they would get caught in the absolute darkness, Marlin found the light switch. He didn’t turn it on though because someone might have been in the room. They were safe just as long as danger flew by like a bird in the sky.
Days were passing by quickly. Mia was a baby so it made sense that she fell asleep without any distractions. Mostly because she didn’t know what was happening. Marlin took care of baby Mia while Maya went around looking to find if something was useful. There were cobwebs and dust everywhere which wasn’t good for her asthma. Outside, there was nice fresh air and it was like a tidy wonderland. Inside, it was a mess, no fresh air and felt like a horrible place to stay in but they had to for their safety. Maya suddenly found a place they could sleep in. It was also a good hiding spot so that was a bonus.
Maya soon went out to a nearby village at least 1 – 2 minutes away. It was dark so it was easier to sneak around and not get caught. The village was full of dreadful, horrendous goblins. Maya managed to get, well basically steal some food. She got bread, milk, potatoes, tomatoes, apples, chease, peas and oranges. Luckily she got a lot but she didn’t get caught straight away. Out of everything she could care for, was her little brother and sister. She was relieved that they wouldn’t be hungry. She sprinted as fast as she could so she wouldn’t get caught.
Just as she was about to leave, she heard a goblin shouting directly at her “What do you think you were doing there little girl?” Maya froze with fear. It was a fat, vomit green goblin with a black hoodie covering his face. Maya didn’t know if she should run or talk him out of what’s happening.
Every goblin who was out late at night, heard him. They all turned to look at him with confusion and angriness since he disrupted their conversations. They all picked up bats and shackles while walking towards him. Maya was terrified and she was praying really really hard that they would not see her. She felt like she was being cornered on a brink of a cliff. She was crying silently with distress.
