Chapter 3
All morning, Ceux marched around the old office in hope she could find an exit. However, Tohei slumped his back, Worryingly mumbling to his self whilst fidgeting his fingers.
“I just want to get out of here,” sighed Tohei with a frown on his face.
“If you really wanted to you would at least help me look for a way out instead of sitting there like a fly caught in a web!” Exclaimed Ceux with a nip in her voice.
“Fine then,” Ceux sighed with a tone of despair in her voice. Despite Tohei’s efforts, Ceux believed she could do it without help from a boy who sat doing nothing. Ceux strutted towards the oak doors, the lock postponing their escape.
Gloomily, Tohei sat on the large bag full of coal, his eyes filling with boredom.
“Won’t you do something?” screeched Ceux, anger spreading across her mind.
Tohei moaned, “I can’t, we are stuck here forever and that’s that so get used to it!” Tohei yelled, causing Ceux to flinch.
After that, Ceux decided it was best to avoid Tohei for a while. Atleast for a couple hours. He seemed to need it after all.
Confidently, Ceux marched towards the large doors once more, her eyes filled with hope. Slowly, She pulled out her hairpin and began fidgeting her fingers until the pin entered the lock. After a while, Ceux had given up that strategy, knowing it wouldn’t work. Determined, Ceux patrolled the room, carefully tapping on each brick in hope she would find a hollow one. None. She sighed as she made her way towards the window. Maybe I could fit through here, she thought curiously. After measuring the windows gap she measured herself. It was too small. Ceux lay her hand out of the gap, feeling the fresh air she longed to be in again. Suddenly, She felt a paw against her hand, a fuzzy feeling following. Crunch. The leaves pilled up outside began to crackle as she peered throuh the window. Toru! It was really him. “Tohei look its Toru!” Ceux exclaimed, happier than ever before.
” Yeah sure, no need to play cruel jokes on me,” Tohei sighed, securing his feet on the ground.
“It really is!” She screamed, waving Tohei over.
After Ceux had bribed Tohei to look, he met the gaze of Toru.
Ceux stretched her hand through the window, feeling a cold item meet her hand.
A key, She believed. Cautiously, Ceux quickly put her hand back through the window to see what she had been given. It was a key. Slowly, she entered the key into the cog and turned it, hope sparked in her head. ” Its not going to work, you do know that, right?” Exclaimed Tohei.
“Why do you always have to be so bitter?” Yelled Ceux, her eyebrows furrowing.
“I’m just saying its not going to work,” murmured Tohei.
“Fine, you just be defeated then, but I certainly won’t be!” Explained Ceux, a serious expression on her face.
Tohei didn’t reply. Ceux twisted and turned but noticed the key was too small.
“Toru, the key won’t fit in the lock,” spoke Ceux worryingly.
“That’s because its not for that lock its for-” Toru had been cut of by the sound of Tohei mumbling.
“What is it Tohei?” Questioned Ceux.
“Why is there a lock here?” Wondered Tohei.
Ceux nudged Tohei out of the way to see what he was talking about.
Another lock.
“That’s the lock I was talking about,” Toru screeched, a sense of relief in his voice.
Ceux held up the key and slowly made her way to the lock.
Carefully, she put the key into the miniature lock and twisted it, a tiny click following.
Ceux and Tohei looked into the little tunnel which lay behind the door.
“Go through it, trust me.” Spoke Toru calmly.
Ceux nodded and went through the cramped tunnel, Tohei following.
After a long time of crawling, they finally made their way to the end of the cramped, wooden tunnel. Ceux remembered she always kept a flashlight in her pocket, just incase something like this happened. She turned it on sharply and a beam of light came out of it. A little while after that they had found a metal handle which led to the other end of the tunnel. Anxiously, Ceux gripped the doorhandle and pushed forward. Sunlight. They were free.
Toru’s face had met Ceux’s and a smile grew along her face. Swifly, she got herself out of the hatch and so did Tohei. “That was so cramped,” Moaned Tohei.
“Well if we didn’t get out we would have still been stuck in my fathers old study room!” exclaimed Ceux, petting Toru.
“Do you need a wind up?” Questioned Ceux, looking at Toru.
“Indeed,” Toru spoke, relief wisping in his voice.
After Ceux had winded him up, She began to look at the beautiful view which beholded them.
“Its beautiful,” Ceux whispered, a smile growing on her face.
“Its ok I guess,” murmured Tohei.
“Why do you always have to be so grumpy?” Exclaimed Ceux.
“Dunno,” laughed Tohei.
The three of them began to walk towards the gleaming, calm water which grew upon the golden grains of sand. The Sun beam reflected onto the ocean, causing a sunset effect. Ceux had always came here with her Mother and Father, their happy place. A tear drop came down her cheek, However, she quickly wiped the tear away, making sure no one seen it.
“We should probably get going,” spoke Toru, breaking the silence.
“Your probably right,” Said Ceux with a croaky voice.
They made their way towards the sunset, the heat beaming on their faces.
