Chapter 3
A week later where snuggled up by the fire. We sit in silence, the only noise is the sound of munching chocolate. Outside it’s cold and bleak.Inside though it’s carm. But that was about to change. “Please,” Oh no, here we go again I think “But I know where it lives,” I roll my eyes.
Before I knew it she dragged me outside and brought me to the beach. She stares so close to the ground there’s sand on her nose. She tries to convince me there’s flipper marks leading to the abandoned Arcade. I check my pocket to make sure I’ve got my lighter.
We walk the queen of stuber leading. As we walk to the structure I see sign after sign saying danger. But she’s stubborn, and bone-headed and yet I follow. I can’t leave her; she’d get herself killed. I stumble and fall as I walk up the slope to the Arcade tripping on every step. She walks along, eyes still pinned to the ground. We reach what’s left of the building. But the doors are locked and if we try and go through the windows glass would impale us.
But then I see it. A small part in the mane door where mice had eaten it away. I try not to look at it so Em doesn’t see it. But she does. Strait away she goes through, me following. This is going to be trouble I think.
We are in utter darkness. I flick on my lighter, illuminating the holl room. Just as I think we can go home seeing nothing. Em sees something. We walk over it, it looks like an amethyst shard.”It’s egg,” Em whispers. I nod my head in disbelief.
I feel a pang of guilt. We’re not meant to be here. It’s her egg we have no right to be here. I turn around to leave holding Ems rist. But I see the Blobmander. It’s coming. We heard it before, the tail slap, a saddened cry, a webbed foot step.Em runs for the egg; I run for the exit.
