Chapter 3

Chapter 3

All evening, Robert sat there moodily staring at the roof. However, Lily rapidly checked around the wooden basement searching for a way out. She spent some time figuring if there was a way out but there was just no way. Lily spent 30 minutes searching to find a way out whilst Robert is sat banging his head on the wall. She did not want to give up but she was close.

Every so often, Lily turned and snapped at Robert,” Instead of helping he sat there playing a game on his fingers”. However, Lily fully ignored Robert and decided to find a way out. So, Lily walked slowly round the old dusty basement tapping the wall trying to find the odd one out. In the end, it came down to the door. Was there a way of opening the lock? Lily spent a long time pushing her hair clip through.

Exasperated, she whirled round once again and launched her frustration on Robert, “I cannot DO THIS ON MY OWN! Why don’t you just for once? Robert shrugged his shoulders

“It’s no good. We are trapped good and proper” mumbled Robert, sighing in great despair.

“But you haven’t tried!” retorted Lily standing with her hand on her hips and her eyes blaze with irritation. The children sat in silence. Lily folded her arms, tapped her foot impatiently and stewed with anger. There seemed no way out and what was worse. Robert seemed to have fully given up. By now it was midnight. Inside, shadows stood across the basement and soon it was pitch black, they could see nothing. Just as Lily was drifting to sleep, she heard something. From outside, a whisper in the bush. Something is moving. Within a minute, they were both at the window as fast as they could. Lily stretched her arm out and turned the small key hidden between his shoulder blades. A soon as Star had been recharged, his tone changed. Opening his mouth, a shiny gold key dropped into Lily’s unwashed palm.

“Time to get out of here” happily said Lily.
