Chapter 1
Aliza Saleem did not want to leave her family behind. She glared out from the second – storey, broken bedroom window, across what seemed like millions of miles of green grass hillsides, there was one light little tear which had come and gone.
Her first day at her new school was as boring as it could be. However, there were two more helpful younger teachers named Miss Mohammed and Miss Booth. After a couple of weeks passed by, they both had realised that Yasmin was an extremely chatty child in her class, perhaps the most out of all of her students. Sat down in the middle row of the classroom, where there was a teacher at every side so more than one eye could be kept on her, Yasmin was daydreaming as everyone else was doing mathematics with the most mad teacher at this school. Mr Sweeney. The second that the lesson had ended, it was like an alarm for her. She got up and ran as fast as a soldier’s bullet since that was the only way to leave Mr Sweeney.
The days started to become longer and Aliza began to create a new schedule and fit in more at school. She now spent all her days giving out broken, bitten pencils, cleaning around the whole house more often for Miss Cook and planting a variety of fruits and vegetables in the garden.
Outside, there is a brilliant blue pond with great, golden goldfish and some beautiful bushy apple trees with rosy red apples falling down.
Inside, there is an old, wooden door with dreadful door knobs for they break each time they get touched by someone.
Each and every night, Aliza would get woken up by Miss Cook creeping from her bedroom and slamming the front door shut extremely loud. Each and every night, Aliza thinks about Miss Cook being up to absolutely no good at all . . . and he isn’t patient enough to find what is going on. One rainy night, Aliza could’t stand it anymore. She had to find out what kind of mischief Miss Cook was up to. She slid out of her bed, put on her coat and followed her into the night. Once she entered the forest, she heard a grumpy growl but not a small one, a louder, deeper growl. Staring into the bushes, she saw Miss Cook feeding an animal. A dragon!
