chapter 2 – Mount Unikornia

It was early morning when Pic awoke, but there was a neatly-tied note on his bed. As he untied the knot and opened the message, he realised that the letter was from his mother. She told him that Deepsun Warren was already destroyed. His mother advised him to go into hiding as the Gorm were spotted last following the path to Robintree Warren. With a small glimpse of the ancient map, Pic woke up his siblings and explained they would travel to Mount Unikornia. It was the safest place to travel to. The Gorm would never expect them to be there. Without a minute to spare, the Trio gathered their possessions and wandered across the forest that was covered in a white blanket of snow.

As they crossed the dark, eerie maze of trees, Pic and Piper quarrelled over what pathways to go down. After what seemed like hours, they finally reached the foot of Mount Unicornia. It was decently cold, but the small band started to trek up the towering mountain. Pic noticed patches of snow around the mountain, partly covering the uneven ground beneath Pic’s hind feet.

Eventually, they reached a small rock face; Pic, Piper and Pru laid on their side against a small boulder. After they regained their strength, they stared into the cave in front of them.

It was the only place that was safe at the moment, so they ventured inside the dark, deep hole.

It was dark in the cave, so Piper opened her fitted, useful pouch and took out a rusted lantern. She lit the light-provider and then they searched for a safe place to hide in.

After walking past many stalactites , they finally found a tight crack in the cave walls , which covered ancient Cave-Rabbit paintings, (the rabbits didn’t have enough time to worry) Piper squealed as she squeezed into the compact space. Pru slid effortlessly into it.

A couple of hours later, deafening footsteps sounded from the entrance of mount Unikornia. The siblings’ fluffy ears twitched, they listened out for anymore noise. Again, footsteps echoed into the cave. Pic peered out of the tight cranny, and there was an unfocused shadow storming towards them. Pic noticed that the shadow had jagged horns, spikes that rested on their shoulders and protruding shapes all around the tall shadow. It was a Gorm soldier.
