The Emporium of Secrets

The Emporium of Secrets

Prologue

Some places are not meant to be found if you are trying to find them, they are only noticed when you wouldn’t expect it. The Emporium of Secrets is one of those mysterious places that and when you do see it you are lost in a trance. This is exactly what happened to Milo when he noticed the entrancing Emporium of Secrets.

Even though at Easter, chocolate rabbits seemed to welcome you in. Even though at Halloween, the sweet smell of pumpkin pie fills the air. Even though at Christmas, lights were gleaming as bright as the sun through the murky window.

No one ever went inside it because the door was too heavy and strong and for some people it was too intimidating. That is until Milo stumbled across it.

Chapter 1 – Into the Emporium

Milo had always been a curious person, his dad even said to him his curiosity would get him in deep trouble one day. One sunny day Milo noticed something was off inside the emporium through the cloudy windows. So, he stepped inside.

Everywhere Milo peered, there was stuff of every kind. There was a brown stuffed monkey in the corner, and a dust coated ancient looking coffee machine on a shelf. Then there was a funky looking Xbox next to the table and the red leather couch that ponged of furniture polish. The room was covered in dust and old books lined up in order on a bookcase. There was one book that looked truly magical though, it was called the Book of Wonder.

“Well, I see you have spotted my books,” came a cold and icy voice.

Milo froze in his position, “who said that.”

“The shopkeeper, who do you think kid,” replied the voice.

“Erm… that’s kind of rude, but my name is Milo what is yours,” he finally looked at the shopkeeper who gave him a sense of a scary gargoyle with untidy hair that had come to life there was also a snake around his neck, and it looked at Milo disapprovingly and hissed at him.

“Why should I tell you my name, and anyway Mr. Milo The Emporium of Secrets is closed so get out and go back to your sad life,” hissed the shopkeeper.

Milo got scared so he said goodbye and left as soon as he could.
