The Highland Dancers Emporium

Prologue

There are some places that everyone goes to like the shops, park or maybe a café but no one has ever remembered going into or for that matter seeing The Highland Dancers Emporium. On one interesting crisp December morning a young 15-year girl old called Katie was walking her normal route to the shops where she went every day to get the groceries for the orphanage that she lived in. There was something strange, it was a new building but not just any new building it was a Highland Dancers Emporium. Katie was a Highland dancer so before you could blink, she was in the shop. Suddenly she heard a deep voice shout, ‘GET OUT! WE DON’T OPEN TILL TWILIGHT!’ and then she knew it was no ordinary highland dancer’s shop.

Chapter 1: Never Touch The Book

That same day at Twilight she decided to go back to the emporium to investigate more. As she entered, the man in the dark grey suit with pale white skin and a mole at the bottom of his nose, she had seen earlier that day was still there and he said to her “You’re the girl from before aren’t you” she said nothing. He then said, “My name is Hendric Kensington I am the owner of this emporium. Please feel free to look around and go behind the curtain if you wish.” so Katie being the adventurous girl she is, went and WOW she was

amazed. There were rooms for the outfits, the dances, the dancers, practice rooms and festive routines rooms. She looked around and soon thought “Oh no Miss Jenkins is going to be wondering where I am I had better get back.”

The next day again at Twilight she went back, this time to ask Mr Kensington how he had built the emporium in such short time. He replied with “How did you come back?” she was confused but so was he. Katie exclaimed “What do you mean how did I come back?” He still looked shocked but whispered “No one ever comes back.” he then motioned for her to go with him, so she did. He led her into a back room and showed her a book that said on the front cover ‘The Highland Dancers Handbook’. She was so excited, she had never seen something like it before. It looked like it had been there for hundreds of years.

Mr Kensington then said, “I am going to let you in on a secret, but you have to promise you will keep it.” Katie nodded “This book is extremely important because, you know all those rooms, this is how they are made. The reason I was so confused is because I have never in all my years had someone come back twice so I thought that perhaps you might have the magic to write in the book so I will give you a try. You just write a room that is related to highland dancing.” Katie said, “Of course I would thank you so much.” so she wrote in

the book they then went to see the room and she was amazed. The room she wrote was about her and her achievements as a highland dancer now people could maybe actually acknowledge her. Mr Kensington soon after said “I will let you write in this book once a week only if you come and live at the emporium with me.” She nodded with a slight hesitation “Also never, I repeat never, write in the book without me.”

Chapter 2: Katies New Apartment

The next day Katie decided to go back to the emporium but this time it was to move in. She waddled along the road with all her stuff clutched between her arms Katie turned her back to the door and pushed it open and walked through. Mr Kensington was standing right in front of her, he said, “Come with me I will show you to your apartment.” then he slowly started to walk away, and Katie, followed they went behind the curtain and up the lift, to level 7 Mr Kensington had to put a code in to let them get out of the lift because it was staff only, the code was 142536, he told her to remember it or else she will not be able to get to her room. They then walked along a few corridors until they got to apartment 999 and he gave Katie a key and told her “Do not lose this whatever you do. If you need, I can get a key box for the outside of the door.” Katie replied with “Yes please I am terrible for losing things can the code

please be 1245.” Mr Kensington nodded. She went in and Mr Kensington walked back down the corridor it was a lovely apartment it had a small kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a bath and then she saw the bedroom, but she could not take her eyes off the bed it was amazing, a double bed with four pillows on either side, five beautiful cushions and a fur blanket that was draped across the bed. She leaped onto it messing up all the cushions, but she did not care because this bed was hers. Once she had unpacked and settled in, she took her key, went out of her apartment and somehow the key box was already fitted there was a note saying ‘The code is the one you asked for’ she put her key in locked it and then walked down the corridors back to the lift. She went down to the ground floor and sitting there on the floor was the book! Katie was so tempted to write in it, but Mr Kensington said not to, she had done it before should she, should she not. Katie grabbed the book and ran up the stairs to a room that no one else was in. She had a pen in her pocket, so she pulled it out and started writing she was so concentrated it was as if no one or nothing could stop her. She wrote about a competition that was on a boat it was last to stop. Pas de Basquing won. Soon a giraffe arrived and told Katie to follow him, so she did, and he suddenly disappeared so that must mean she was there. As she opened the door, she heard a creak from the already rusted hinges and jumped back in shock, but she then realised it was

just the door, so she walked through, and the door slammed behind her, and she got the shock of her life when out of nowhere jumped a shark…
