Chapter 1

It was a snowy night in February the snow drifted down and smothered the streets of Ayrshire. A few street lights had been lit, casting shadows in the corners where anything might be hidden away from civilization. 

Lois Grande was trudging through the snow, tugging her coat closer as the wind blew against her pale face. She could see the checkpoint ahead of her with a guard turning people around to the out-casts the next place over.

“Next” bellowed  the guard as Lois came closer and closer to the checkpoint. ” your pass?” snaped the guard “here” said Lois practically whispering in fear, this was her first time delivering to people apart from the out casts. ” where are you going ?” he asked Lois

“I’m dropping off a pair of shoes for my dad’s company” she said in her best goody-two-shoes voice, the guard sniffed and nodded his head. As Lois trudged back into civilization she said to herself, “head down  stay out of trouble”. Something her dad told her before she left for the delivery.

As Lois walked along the pavement she saw a man following her she started walking faster, he still followed, she started running , the man chased her down an alley but it was a dead end.”I’ll be having that” he said “and any of your cash too”. Lois refused to hand them over, she stood on his foot and ran as fast as he could eventually she saw in front of her was a wheat field she ran to it “I can hide in there” she said as she jumped over the fence. The man was coming closer and closer….
