Chapter 3
During the night, Ellie was sobbing and she saw a small shadow emerge, “W-w-who are you? Hello?” shouted Ellie.
“My name is Sam, I’ve been locked in here for days. I don’t remember the time, ”he whispered. Sam was in the corner sobbing into his hands whilst Ellie was walking back and forward. “I don’t know what to do. I Need help!” shouted Sam, “Please!…”
Ellie was frantically looking for an escape. She thought to herself, “Window? No. Door?”
“Why should I try?” Sam said, “We’re doomed! Absolutely doomed!”
Ellie shouted, “How are we going to get out?”
Every so often, Ellie snapped at Sam, “Why are you not helping me? You could stop sitting there like a stuffed rat and help me get out!” Ellie mumbled. Sam was just lost in his own thoughts. So many questions like will we ever get out? Where will we end up? Will we stay here forever? All of these questions spun around his head. Ellie was trying to work out how to get away from this place. One single question hit Sam’s head, what if we use Ellie’s hair pin?
Sam awoke from his thoughts, “Ellie! Use your hair pin!”
“Finally you said SOMETHING!” Ellie shouted.
Ellie took out her hair pin, “This might actually work!” Ellie stated. She took it out of her hair, poked the pin in the lock…but it didn’t work. “Ohh great, I thought you were actually useful for a second! Get more useful things in your head and we might actually escape!” Ellie shouted.”
Later that night, Ellie was awoken by rattling in a bush. “Sam, Sam, wake up, Sam!” Ellie whispered. “He’s not awake! Amazing…” Ellie angrily muttered to herself. She looked out of the small window in the corner. The rattling got louder and louder. Two glowing eyes glared at Ellie.
“Ellie, give me some clicks will ya?” muttered the animal.
“Who are Yyyyy-you? How do you know my name?” Ellie Whispered.
“Ellie, it’s Bumpkin! Give me some wind ups will ya?”
Ellie carefully wound up Bumpkin. Bumpkin said faithfully, “Thank you Ellie, here is your reward.” Bumpkin opened his mouth and stretched his legs out, “Here, take this key,” Bumpkin whispered with no energy. “You’ll need it.” Ellie wasn’t sure this would work. Then Ellie put the key in the rusted lock. Click. The door swung open and Ellie glanced at the open door.
“Bumpkin, this is AMAZING! Oh my gosh! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I owe you a million clicks!” Ellie exclaimed.
Bumpkin Muttered “Ellie please give me more clicks.”
“Yes of course!” Ellie gave Bumpkin a bunch more clicks until Bumpkin was fully powered. “Sam! Let’s get out, we’ve got no time to waste!”
