Chapter 3

The door locked behind them. They were stuck. Dottie was annoyed at Bob because he wasn’t helping Dottie find an escape route. There might be a trap door somewhere. There might be holes in a door or wall.

Angrily, Dottie spun around and said, “Bob! Stop being annoying and help, now!”

“Fine,” said Bob.

Just as Dottie was about to go to sleep, she heard a soft knock from the tiny window. She opened her eyes and gazed outside. Looking back at her she saw Clockeye’s pretty eyes. Sleepily, Clockeye barked, “Come on! Give me some wind up will you?”

When Clockeye was charged up, she spat out a key. “Time to get out of this place.” Slowly, Dottie turned and looked at the whole key then looked at the door and saw a small hole for the key to open the door. The door opened and they ran up the steep grassy hill that had beautiful flowers away from the house and towards freedom.
