Chapter 3

Furiously, Taylor screamed, “Why can’t you just help?”

“It’s no use, we’re trapped. I hate your  mum’s old co-worker,” said  Zoe.

“Yes, but you are not even trying to get out,” said Taylor with her arms crossed.

Just as Zoe was falling asleep, she heard a soft knock on the window. Looking out, she saw Betty’s bright blue eyes. She quickly opened the window, “Let me in, I need more wind ups,” purred Betty. Zoe reached her arm out of the window and gave her some wind ups using the key between her shoulder blades.

When Betty had more wind ups, she opened her small mouth and dropped an old, brown key.  Zoe quickly opened her hands. “I want out of here,” said Zoe .

Softly, Zoe turned the key but it seemed to not work until there was a click and the door opened with a creak. “We’re free! We’re free!” said Zoe excitedly as the girls ran out the door and onto the field of grass without hesitation. They ran all the way across to the old stone wall. Betty leading the way.
