A wave of disappointment

A wave of disappointment

My disappointment is made from,

a thousand pieces of crystal,

shattered into miniscule pieces,

stardust sprinkled into a black hole,

my eyes watering,

flooding the world with my soul’s sadness.

It can be found in,

the deepest part of my mind,

invading my thoughts and dreams,

Sitting on the old brick wall,

facing the gloomy water,

shrouded in loneliness.

It can breath in the fumes of,

the cries of the earth,

for failed projects and rejected requests,

and much wanted gifts that parents cannot afford.

If it escaped my mind,

and collided with the city streets,

it would raid even the happiest minds,

and force them to experience,

a wave of disappointment

Roses by Eloise SWW

Roses Roses are like specks of paint in the vast field,

A rainbow of hope and courage,

Their petals are as smooth as silk,

But getting past their thorns can be a challenge.

Roses are the joy of nature

Like the happiness inside of people,

The boss of any other flowers and plants,

Overlooking the whole field,

Taller than any other plant.

Roses are like rainbows on the ground

, Many different colours

Many options for a perfect gift,

As soft as a marshmallow,

Caterpillars lunch.

Roses are as pink the evening sky,

The ground is their home

Nestling amongst the long grass,

Drooping their heads.

The Ship of Moonlight Eloise SWW

The Ship of Moonlight

On the Ship of Moonlight,
A ball of glittering light cast its spell on the sea,
Like a lighthouse in the midnight sky,
The deafening silence of the sea,
Haunted sailors under the stars.

On the Ship of Moonlight,
The eyes of the portholes gazed out,
Wishing on the beaming stars,
Dreaming of what dawn holds.

On the Ship of Moonlight,
Darkness became a shadow,
As light became the centre of attention.

The Dragomander CH4 by Eloise SWW

Chapter 4

Creeping silently, an eerie shadow flies around the walls of the dragomander’s cave-like home. Suddenly, behind us, the dragomander stops, exactly in front of the exit of the cave! Opal lets out a gasp, but I could see she is unable move; she is terrified. I had thought that she was the brave one of us, but I see she has let her guard down. A screech nearly deafens me, and the dragomander starts to bounce off the walls and circles its egg.

Opal suddenly brings her courage back and raises her arms in to show we mean no harm. Then she speaks:
” My name is Opal, this is Lizzy, and we mean no harm to you or your precious egg. We promise. We would just like to leave. We understand that it was a mistake to come in here, but we really didn’t realise that this was your place. We hope you forgive us.” Slowly, the dragomander moves out of the way for us to escape.

Outside, the moon shines like a spotlight, and the mist clears as a walkway for us to stride home. As we walk, Opal and I talk. ” How on earth are we going to keep the egg safe? If anyone else ventures into the cave, there is a high chance of them being extremely badly hurt, or…” I pause. “Maybe even die.” I whisper.
Opal nods but stays quiet. ” How about a sign? Or a report of… a rockfall! Or a flood from the tide!” she finally says. ” Yes, but won’t people like the police, or maybe people in ambulances to make sure that everything is ok? They could come and check it out for themselves. But maybe a sign is good idea. It could say: ” Danger! Cave with falling rocks. Do not enter! ” I say.

We then go back to the town, and to our surprise, tourists and shops are busy! Chips on the House is buzzing with the owner, Zephlin Sparks, and all of the tourists! Emmie’s Calm Café is certainly anything but calm this morning. And Joes Arcade is already filled with kids! Than I remember. It was the spring! That means visitors, children, and more! I rush to the shop, with Opal, and open up quickly. The room is warm, really warm. I must have left the heater on last night. I get behind the cashier and wait for the customers. Opal begins to stock the shelves. My mind begins to race. The egg! What will happen to the egg? Suddenly, Opal breaks the tension. ” Thanks for letting me help with your business! Who would of thought! Two 12 year old girls working together especially after last night! What will happen to the egg? Lizzy… what do you think will happen!” she says.

Opal wanted to go out to the Calm Cafe while I was having lunch. ” I’m just going out to Emmie’s, I will back soon!” I was all alone in the shop with just a few customers. I nimbly picked up my fork and ate my pasta. I enjoyed watching the children pick out souvenirs, soft toys, and beach supplies. As a little girl payed for a keyring, Opal rushed in, with an old magazine in her hand! I said bye to the girl and looked at the magazine. On the front was the beach. My heart skipped a beat. A beach with shards of black and pink, purple and yellow specks. It was the… But the cover said it was sea glass. A rare type of sea glass.
” Opal it’s not what we think it is. Read.” I say.

That night, we talked over tea. Our adventure was not coming to an end. It was just beginning!

Dragomander CH3 Eloise SWW

Chapter 3

The next blustery morning, I invite Opal for a cup of tea. For now, she was staying with me in the spare sleeping bag in my room. I grab a tea bag and some water and heat it over the wood burner. While we are inside, sipping hot tea, and wrapping up warm, the weather outside could not be worse. The wind howling outside the window, and rain hammering on the roof, along with dark skies and grey clouds. Opal is silent, and it looks like she’s thinking of something to say, to break the tension. Before has time to say anything, I say;
” It was terrifying last night, wasn’t it?” Opal won’t answer me. She’s probably still thinking. Finally, she speaks.
” We should go back. To the pier. I think I know where it stays.” she replies.

I soon find out that Opal was not actually sleeping last night, in fact, she was somewhere completely different. She had climbed out of the window and gone down to the pier. She had found evidence! That was why she wanted to go back to the pier now. Why hadn’t she told me sooner? I was so surprised when I found out.

Locking up Buckets and Spades, I quickly turn around the piece of wood with string that said ‘ Come in, we’re open!’ to ‘ Sorry we’re closed, come again another time.’ I sighed. This was not part of my plan. My plan was to never go back. Opal is waiting impatiently for me, and keeps muttering to me.
” Come on, come on, come ON! ” she says. I huddle up into my navy jacket, and run down to the beach. Mist blinds us as we get closer and a wail echoes. We reach the sandy beach and the crashing waves. Opal runs ahead but I stop at the entrance. I suddenly get pulled along the beach to where Opal was last night. ” Here we are, Lizzy. This is where I was last night.” says Opal.

I had no idea of what Opal wanted me to do. She went off, on her hands and knees, searching and picking at tiny morsels of sand and throwing them like she were digging. ” Opal! What do you want me to…?” I couldn’t finish my sentence. A noise has interrupted me. ” O- Opal? We shouldn’t be here…not now at least.” Opal has found scales.

The mist had cleared. I hear a long gasp from Opal. Rushing over to her, I see she has found something. Something glowing ( like a galaxy) is perching on the sand. An egg. Completely black, with pink, purple and yellow specks. It is a galaxy egg that belonged to the Dragomander! And we had found it. I couldn’t believe it.

I begin to feel uncomfortable around the Dragomander’s egg. I feel guilty as well. Opal obviously feels different, as she goes ahead and touched the rough shell. Suddenly, a wail and growl, and a water splash fills my ears. Something is coming for us. ” Opal, run, get out of here, now! Something’s coming! Ow!” I had just cut my leg on a sharp rock as I was in a hurry.

” The little local legend? Really?” I asked curiously. I amChapter 2

” The little local legend? Really?” I asked curiously. I am shocked, so much that I can’t move.
” Yes, please hide me!” I didn’t know why she needs to hide. Surely the Dragomander would not come after her. Why would it need to?
” Why do you need to hide?” I have an idea of her reply, but I waited to find out. I knew it. She was aware that the dragomander could fly with it’s feather like wings, and had eaten many people down on the beach at night.

Half an hour later, I found my self and my new friend, apparently named Opal, on the edge of the beach. The sea runs over my shoes, soaking my socks and part of my jeans. Opal runs ahead of me, surprisingly fast, leaving me panting and shouting after her. When I had left my room in the shop, I had felt brave, and wanting an adventure. Now there was no turning back.
” Opal! Slow down, wait! I’m not as fast as you!”
” We need to find it, Lizzy! ” she replied. Thunder cracks above us, my bravery drowning, being replaced with fear. Opal carries on running, leaving me panting. Suddenly, lightening illuminates the midnight sky snapping me into action. I race to catch up with Opal.

We reach some steps that lead to the boardwalk from the beach and climb them. The clothes shop, Sailors Tailors that sells swimming costumes, t-shirts, shorts, is shut and locked up, ready for the impending storm. The fish and chip shop, Chips on the House, is boarded round the window, to protect them from smashing in. Opal found the pier to be shut tightly, with locks and chains, and a bit of tape that they use for crimes.

Just across the pier, Opal pointed out a pile of scales followed by some slime. I was stuck on the spot. Opal was much braver than me. She edges up to the pier and pulls a bit of tape off. She then called to me. ” Lizzy!” she called. I couldn’t reply. Fear had taken over my body. ” Lizzy!” she called again. I had found a large tooth. ” Ella Eliza Parka!” That got me.

Hardly daring to breath, Opal and I begin pulling on the locks and chains. The wind whistles in my ear and I shout out: ” I think we’ve done it! Opal!” Opal shields her eyes from the wind and rain and makes her way on to the pier. I have no choice but to follow her. At that moment, Opal stops and stares. A black figure down in the crashing waves could not be missed. Opal mutters something to me in a petrified way.
” It’s here. It’s the dragomander”. I know it is the dragomander, what else could it be. Then a long wail and a roar echoed around the pier.

Bravely, Opal edges closer to the water, shaking with fear. I wouldn’t dare to come with her. I was more scared than she was. It’s wings open up and it paces out of the water, heading towards poor Opal.
” Lizzy, help!”. She is paralyzed with fear. The stench of seaweed and bones is coming closer, filling my nostrils.

Just as quickly as the situation happened, the dragomander flies into the sky and hurtles back aiming for Opal. Then, it dives back into the water. Suddenly, it leaps again, this time aiming for the pier. Shards of wood fly in the air as the dragomander crashes the pier. It crashes, back into the water with a deep long growl and a wail. I’m still shaking with fear shocked, so much that I can’t move. ” Yes, please hide me!” I didn’t know why she needs to hide. Surely the Dragomander would not come after her.
