Embers in Harmony – Chapter 2

Hermes glared at Joe. Her eyes were a fiery red and seemed to look like little embers dancing in harmony. Her white fur looked as though it shimmered more with every step, as pale as a cloud, like a blank hole. Joe could make out jagged teeth like serrated  daggers, as frightening as death itself. Claws curled like massive arches as thin whiskers shot out like a newly grown tooth. Her ears jolted, suddenly hearing everything .To Joe’s surprise, she opened her huge gaping mouth. Honed teeth shot out, as ferocious as a hunters trap. She paced forwards, sniffing his hand and licking him with her blood red tongue, hard as rock and volcano level hot. Joe was terrified.

“She might like you more than me!” Miss Anna exclaimed, as the bulky figure of the  cat turned and paced  the other way. Joe looked at her in awe  and couldn’t hold back a smile. On their trek back to the small village, the wind wildly howled like a werewolf in a full moon at the Spiders Den making the nearby bushes quiver. Stars studded  the way ahead. Joe  felt as though he was being stared at. He froze and glared at the trees behind. For a moment, he thought he saw those same embers dancing in harmony.

“She doesn’t want you to go,” joked Miss Anna. “I found her a few years prior to your  arrival abandoned in the mountains. She was merely an infant at that time left to die. Her parents must have died. I reckon hunters killed them for food, stuff with the war. I took her in , a secret, and brought her back to full health. My goodness she grew quick” Joe listened very carefully, astonished by the story. “ She is our secret now. If they saw her or even heard about this I don’t even want to talk about what would happen.”

That dusk, Joe wondered about the massive cat. Hermease, charging through the frightening forest, little embers piercing the gloom. When she licked his hand, he shivered. Her eyes were like massive supernovas, yet they had made him feel at home; soothed his soul . So it was every night, Joe came to Hermes, taking any leftovers he could get in his  grasp. He learnt from Ayan how to set traps for animals and, often he captured the one mouse of which Hermease would snatch the second it came into his hands. then disappearing back into the forest, giving a satisfied roar. Obviously she hunted herself snaring rabbits, mice and the odd boar. She also liked sprinting, she would run as fast as a flash zooming through the forest picking off prey without retaliation . She was beastly but learnt to accept him.

One day, Hermease let Joe stroke her bulky body. Within the span of months, she would look into his pockets trying to find meat, always making a cheerful roar. She would lick him contently and even lie on his body. Joe changed too. He no longer caused tantrums  and once his daily errands were done, was off walking  through the small village, checking his traps. Miss Anna would hear him singing and even laugh. Over the long months, Miss Anna watched how the wild cat calmed the wild boy and their secret brought them together.

letter home

Thanks for the hot blanket, it kept me at an optimal temperature during the painful ride to my new home . What felt like a millenia later, we gradually came to a halt. Wow it is my first time in Shirbert lynch  and the small houses look prety good   . It is much more silent here than at home, where boomers rain down terror in the   town. I stand as still as a statue waiting for the lucky person. Suddanly a chubby lady walked over and without a second thought grabbed me. She gave me an evil glare filling me with anxiety.

In the end I ended up staying with Miss Karen in a lonely neighborhood called Smelly, in a miniature house. The water comes from a small well in the backyard. You have to turn a handle and a bucket  filled with water will inevitably come to you. First thing in the morning ,I am forced to have a bath outside in the freezing cold. She would not let me in until I was spotless. Later, she gave me something that I had never seen. It was  disgusting and  cold . She talks in a serious tone but she is ok.

I have a small room in the basement.I can only see shadows soundly snare up the dull room. In the night, I can hear screams of horror echoing from the faraway battlefield. First thing everyday I pray for you , dad and baby scar. Everyday I wake to the sound of one of her exotic pets amongst them being cockerels and snakes. They make such loud noises I think my ear drums will birst. There are snakes in the pen outside of the house and sometimes I sneak out and take the eggs. She has a massive vegetable farm.

You will not believe this but Miss Karen  has a cow called moo who lives in a luxury wooden pen. I have a multitude of jobs, the most disgusting being feeding mrs moo. In the night I have to lock all the pens because Mrs Karen says if we don’t the wolves will kill them. If I have not been a pest sometimes she lets me choose an egg from one of the animals and keep it.

Sherbert lynch is a small, remote village near a small mountain. There are about 10 houses. They have pathways that connect the town. There are many and they all have different names. One is called  creepy ketchup . The fields and grass are very green and lush. Unlike home.

Every day Miss Karen sends me to the small school, carrying my gasmask, and ration book in case I need them. It is an hour walk to the school . Many people my age go here, pray for our nation, I sit at the very back with my books and encyclopedias. I am trying very hard to do well in school.  We eat outside on the grass, Mrs Karen gives me a bread and tuna sandwich. Sometimes she will put in some of my favorite stuff as a treat. Lots of the people eat vegetables freshly dug from other peoples gardens, then cleaning them in the puddles and then putting the straight in their mouth. I tried one and the other people ganged up on me, scaring me.They are alright. They know lots of good games to a high degree too .

I hope you and Scar are okay. I think about you all the time. I hope dad is still alive and soon comes home . Your beautiful son, tiny tim.

deaths cold embrace

My grief is made of –

the screams of the deceased like a blood curdling cry,

the terrible tears of the wronged,

deaths freezing embrace,

the face of a mother when her baby dies

and the sadness of someone being executed.

I found it-

caged in the heart of the furious,

trapped in the brain of the sad,

imprisoned in the mind of the deceased ,

lounging in the amygdala

where grief grows.

This grief can-

shred the hearts made of titanium,

overwhelm even the strong willed,

kill the weak,

rip apart a volcano

until it is nothing but a puddle of magma

And volcanic rock .

If I lost this grief-

My hectic heart would finally be at peace.

Stars Silently slumber

Stars silently slumber as a gorgeous glow  fills the sail , paced with life. Surreal stars, sprinkled on the deck , shimmers like the far away galaxy. The jet black sky fixes on it’s reflection in the Helicoprion- highway’s  great  green depths. Abnormal  astroads are the life of space. Mumbles of the galaxy neel nearly hidden from prying eyes , yanking at the calm, ocean air. Could it be stars!

malamander

Kadija pauses in her tracks, freezing. I follow her and then it happened. Several rows of jagged knifes for teeth dug down into the mushy sand. They Lead up to seagulls’ fancy fish and chips restaurant. I tug kadias wooly jumper towards the image. The wind horrendously howled making the shutters cower. We hear a blood curdling growl, coming from the abandoned mine nearly making my ear drums burst . We irrationally run towards the noise, not knowing what could happen.

We wander past the appealing aquarium ,

The Grand Natulias museum and seagulls fancy fish and chips restaurants. The curtains are up for the inevitable snow storms. Not a single person can be found on the coast. Worried beach dwellers scuttle to their salvation.

We slowly approach the entrance of the abandoned mine and see a small hole at the back of the mine. Suppressing every sound we walk in . Out of the blue  hailstone falls from the pitch black sky, covering the outside world. From behind us something smashes like large feet energetically running on sticks. Terrified, we turn. From out  of the darkness a silhouette appears what could it be?

Once darkness looks over the icy skies we were outside in the deep dark retracing khadijah’s footsteps. I knew I should have stayed inside tucked in my miniature room with the heater blazing bright. All i want to say is that Khadijah for that is her name is the most perseverice yet mean person i have met! The ocean tornado blows so aggressively that we slip into the wind pushing onwards, otherwise we would be blown head first onto the hard streets. Remote thunder rumbles and lightening horrendously cackles over the sea like a honed claw grasping down.

prologue

Prologue

You’ve likely been to Slumber-on-sea. In the Summer, in all likelihood , you surfed on the wonderful waves , traversed the appealing aquarium ,  divertingly devoured the prominent  triple- tropical soft serve. When you came, there would have been sunbathing Seagulls sitting helplessly, and nearby flowers singing melodious music . You probably got taken to the Grand  Nautilus museum, that’s the type of place  you would visit … until you awaken.

However, in the winter, you definitely felt the jagged wind navigating the rain . You should attempt  being there when the  blizzard falls and refrigerates  the mourning streets . You should try being there when fog suffocates the town and the fog horn blows . Small quantities of people visit then. Even the natives keep well away from the beach… and most people say, they have good intentions.

Lion manders on the edge of extinction

A Lion mander is a type  of mammal. Lion manders  are spiky beasts and have claws as sharp as honed knifes. The spikes on there body are also  microscopic but laugh at the people they see like a creepy circus clown . They have rows of jagged needles for teeth and have poisonous breath. They are a type of Malamander  that are  said to have been mutated by scientists at a young   age . Lion manders mostly live in Sahara desert and ave been seen roaming around  the Antarctic Lion manders are renown for there   and naterul hunting prowess . Lion manders normally eat penguins, polar bears and Lions.

These majestic creatures live in highly populated areas were no nasty humans lurk , well away from shops and places were humans are normally found .They are quite timid towards humans and dissect there there time between killing animals such as the Wilder beast, Zebras and Antelopes  also guzzling down large amounts of water from the pond. All of this means that they are not scared of interactions with different animals . If humans approach them even as quiet  as mice it attacks and will most likely kill them. However, if a person has a gun they run as fast as a flash. They are carnivorous and like to feast upon animals such as the bewilder beast and any other type of meat,  but prefer to eat animals with lots of fat . Hunters used to call the Lion mander the kings of animals because they were first spotted killing an apex predator  known as he Megolodan . Amazing, this  fight of beasts was caught on camera however, it is not very good quality.

It is of significant concern that the Lion mander is under immediate threat. Many of the human race believe that there flesh  is a delicacy parallel to anything else in the world , and tat they contain supernatural  properties. The society of Lion manders is carrying out an extensive campaign to notify the public  about these brilliant creatures  and to declare  for them to be made a preserved species. However, if   we sadly allow them to be inhumanly hunted , then there numbers will inevitably diminish. If you would love to donate to our campaign , kindly sign our appeal on www. save the Lion manders . com. Amazingly, John Attemborrow   is our generous  society’s sponsor  and announced that we should work together to build a secure  environment for these  delightful , smart creatures that are honestly the eighth wonder of the world

my diary entry

Last night, the most miraculous thing happened . I was on a brilliant ride in my yacht. The wonderful waves were rolling across the southern seas  and a few revolting Seagulls flew overhead . It was so frigid by this point that I had to lay in my quarters of what my friend named the beautiful  ship.

The others wanted to explore the vast ocean and spent a lot of time scuba diving for little bits and bob we also found a stunning pearl that’s as shiny as a knight in armor. After we had a molecular level of fun in the turquoise sea we decided to have a relaxing party  on our beautiful boat . Later on , it was getting horribly unilluminated  and the sun had dipped down under the horizon. The wind had whipped up and as I stood by the boat’s rail I caught the scent of something repulsive. It smelled of rotten flesh and crimson red blood.

I perched as still as a statue and called for my amazing friends. They came to my aid as usual. It was then that it happened. Slowly out of the shadows, a silhouette began to form and come out of the ocean. Two bloodshot eyes fixed us with a glare. I could barely make out a pair of long wet arms and razor sharp spikes  across its entire dark blue body. Whatever this freak of nature was, came out of the water and paused. A few scales shimmered. It was nor fish nor anything else I have ever seen in my long life. As I stood watching in amazement the beast opened its mouth to divulge rows of honed needles for teeth. These were jaws that yanked and shred

The crew then pranced over. They too stopped and gave a scream that  even the faraway trees replied too. The creature suddenly stepped back and submerged back into the sea.

I ran back inside the boat not daring to look back. Had it already eaten my friends?  I told the driver to bring it back home quickly! Had I just seen the legendary sea monster known as the Malamander? Were the old sailors  legends true?
