My curiosity poem by Vienna SWW

My curiosity poem

My curiosity is made from-
self belief,
a speck of joy,
blossom leaves
scattered like
billions of marbles coloured like the rainbow.

I found it-
where the glittering sun and the shining moon meet,
where the magicians secrets are kept hidden away,
where the colours of the rainbow collided brightening up your day,
where the darkness hides away ready to engulf you.

My curiosity can-
skip and jump,
to pick up any sad souls
lost in their paths,
it can tear down the universal and repaint it again.

If I lost my curiosity-
even the sun and the moon would morn.

Chapter 3 by Vienna SWW

The summer holidays stretched like a winding road. Every day, Lyra walked across the stretches of fields taking in the views confused about how different the country side is. In only a week Lyra realised that the shape of the trees, hills and the streams had become familiar to her, it felt more like a home. The countryside was far from the same to the city it is filled with green grass and vibrant flowers whilst the city was filled with gloomy building and only small patches of green. The trees rustled, the grass swayed and the flower petals drifted down.

At Sunrise, Lyra made her way to the hut in the woods where her Albino Turtle called Alaska lives. Sometimes they would sit and look up at the stars or splash and play around in the water. Often Alaska would perk up when she heard a splash in the river then would be off. A little while later she would return with a fish or a flower. They got to know and learn about Alaska with her playful but quiet nature, that was probably the best part for Lyra.

Lyra often worried about Alaska even though she kept her locked in the hut with the windows covered but someone might stumble across her. Alaska would swim miles to meet Lyra but with her shy nature she would normally never get spotted.

It happened though. A late October evening Lyra heard a loud chirp at a instant she knew it was Alaska. She rushed to the hut in the woods shoving all the branches and bushes out the way. Alaska was in the river head out of water eyes fixed on the target. Only a few feet away stood Nosy Niki her pale terrified face fixed on Alaska,

“Stay calm and still!” Lyra whispered as she blocked Alaska’s view of Nosy Niki. Carefully, Lyra gave Alaska a fish which calmed her right down. At this moment Nosy Niki fled stumbling over old tree trunks, stubbing her toes and crying with fear. Alaska slumped into her hut the fish in her mouth whilst Lyra followed Nosy Niki back to the village. What was she going to do now?

The secret that had been so well kept for so long was now broken. Lyra went home where she had to face Mrs Willow, she would not know if Mrs Willow would be angry. They talked long into the night exchanging ideas one was to move her to an other location or even release her. After all we have to find her a home as the winding rivers of the country side are not made for turtles.

Chapter 4 by Vienna SWW

Chapter 4

Dreaming, Jessy heard a soft ghostly voice. Calling, calling her to come closer and closer shouting something but her voice faded into the darkness. Jessy started to run, run across an empty beach towards the ghostly figure. It was her mum, she was sure of it, but as Jessy got closer the figure faded away. Eight long years had passed but still Jessy could not believe that all she could remember was a faded blurred figure. Jessy felt apart of her life was gone forever.

Jessy woke with a start. Morning sunlight flooded through the rather large slats of the wooden barn. Jack was curled up on some hay but Lightcourse was awake cleaning his muddy fur. He paused mid-action and stared up at Jessy, his hazel eyes glinting in the sunlight. Jessy rolled her eyes and crawled over, reaching for the rusty key on his back, turning it until there was a click and he said “That’s better, time to get going! Let’s get back what is rightfully yours. I saw that scallywag only ten minutes ago preparing your fathers airship! Get up lazybones we don’t have all day!” Jessy started mouth open” But I thought his airship was….” Lightcourse stopped her.

“Oi, I was having a jolly good dream!” protested Jack. Stretching, Jack rubbed his eyes and jumped up. Seconds later, the gang of unlikely musketeers where hoisting each other up the garden wall where Jessy’s dad airship was tethered. The engine roared and the balloon was filling rapidly. They watched the professor carry a small box on board. As he made is way back to Woodcote Manor, Lightcourse readied himself ” Here we go!” cried Lightcourse.

Scampering across the field Lightcourse shouted “Come on then, he will be back any second!” The children caught up with Lightcourse who was already inside, it was Jack who unlocked the door and bounded in first. Luckily the locket was safe in a little box nearby.

“Thieves, Pocket-pinchers!” Shouted the professor, rushing towards dad’s airship the Rambo, he was running exceptionally fast for a man his age. Without a second thought, Jessy, grabbed the ships wheel and threw the ropes over board. Within seconds, the airship rose off the ground, into the crisp winter air. The three musketeers watched as the professor stomped his foot and cried insults at them.

They heard some banging and muffled shouts from behind some boxes and there they found Leo Harkness trussed up like a turkey. Jessy cut his ropes and Leo hugged her close but only for a moment as the Rambo was getting higher and higher, “Come on then!” he exclaimed clambering back to the wheel and taking control of the ship “We will put some distance between s and that scallywag! Then find a place to land, then we can hand that scoundrel in!”

Jessy and Jack stood on deck gazing into the wonderful winter sky, tiny houses dotted the edges of fields that now look like a quilt to keep the world warm, roads ran round like a ribbon wrapping the world like a present. Jack grinned at Jessy as she zipped up her coat. A few snow flakes began to fall as the sun began to set. It would soon be Christmas and least she was with her beloved dad.

Flamemander Chapter 4

Chapter 4
I get ready to run even though my brain knew I was not going anywhere, I gaze at the egg pondering what to do. I notice that the egg looks like a flame in a warm fire place with tiny freckles of gold hidden in the ridged cracks of the it. I start to worry hoping Wilbur has a way out of here. It’s then Wilbur starts talking trying to use his calmest voice which sounds hard as he is a very energetic person, “It’s okay we are here to be friends.” he says, slowly backing towards me. I can hear in his quivering voice that Wilbur is scared but trying to hide it.

The flamemander pauses and tilts its head, its scales turning blue, Its aqua eyes fixed on us, “We are not here to hurt you.” whispers Wilbur. The flamemander blinks then bows down. We slip past it and manage to stroke it as we go past, we wave goodbye and sneak into the shadows.

Outside, the mist clears and the sun starts to rise. We stroll across the beach Wilbur running ahead, my head racing to try and keep up with all the ideas that he was shouting at me. I felt the warm sands soaking into my feet and the waves slipping in-between my toes. Today might end up being a lovely day! Even if I did not agree with Wilbur’s ideas we both agree that we need to keep the flamemander safe. How will we stop people finding the nest? What will we do if someone finds the nest? Will there be a fight for the egg?

By the time we are off the beach and in town, it is 10 O’clock, the sun high in the sky. Billy unlocks the door to Billie’s bits and bobs, turning around the sign that once said Closed to Welcome in. He sets out all of his items for stock and puts his ice cream stall outside. He shouts, “up early aren’t you?” we just wave back. Mrs Cook pulls down the shutters of Chips-on-Sea. She sets out some deck chairs and table outside, preparing for a busy day. We watch as the shop fronts fill up with colourful deck chair; open signs; and spruce wood tables.

I open the door to my little basement and jump onto my arm chair feeling absolutely shattered, unlike Wilbur who was stood up muttering more ideas. We turn on the heaters and I sit down to relax well Wilbur raids the shelf of lost items.

For the rest of the day we sit in silence, until Wilbur who just finished the lost book he found, blurted out, “Read this page!” I pick it up and read. In 1978 the captain of the legendary Braveheart found a fiery red rock spotted with gold, they took it on board. The next night the rock was broken in half and empty. They found a monster hidden on the ship submerged in fire, by the time morning broke the ship had brunt down. Sailors now have a promise to capture any creature of this kind. I look at Wilbur worried.

This is only the start of the biggest story ever!cHA

Flamemander Chapter 3 by Vienna SWW

Chapter 3 A few days later, we sit in silence in my cosy little basement, we take slow bites of (my favourite food) chocolate cake. Outside, the wind picks up, fog starts to close in and the sea thrashes against the rocks. Inside, I snuggle up in my blanket and Wilbur turns up the electric heater. Unsurprisingly, Wilbur does not sit still for long, he jumps up, “Alright,” he begins “are you ready for more adventures!” I roll my eyes and mumble ” alright then!”

I am soon to find out that the mysterious boy that I have been following around, has gone off investigating without me; apparently, whilst I have been nice and snug, he has been snooping around town. He has found a large trail of scorch marks leading to some caves.

Grabbing my coat and locking the door to my basement, I turn around the see Wilbur is already disappearing in the fog. I race to keep up with Wilbur’s fast feet. We are wasting no time, speeding along the beach, Marram grass scratching my legs as we run past them. “Niki, see?” Wilbur yells above the wind. I squint trying to see what he is pointing at and whisper to myself “Oh I never thought this is what I would be doing today.”

I had not believed Wilbur until now, just gazing at the massive scorch mark made me feel scared. There are serval sets of footprints and scorch marks, there are two distinct sets of footprints, one leading towards the sea and one leading into the dark cave stood before us. I put on my torch and look around. “Come on, let’s go in!” Shouts Wilbur excitedly, I sigh and follow him in. I know we are walking into trouble!

The rain pours. Its totally dark. It smells mouldy and water drips from the roof of the cave. Dagger like crystals glimmer in the torchlight. I trudge on alert and scared, my eyes scan the room looking for any danger. Just as I think we are all alone and start to relax, Wilbur finds something. There is a smaller cave, with a nest made with wet seaweed. In the centre of the nest there is a rather large egg, glowing orange. The flamemander has an egg!

All of a sudden I feel a stab of guilt. “We should not be here,” I whisper. I tug at Wilbur’s arm, turning to make my way out of the cave. But something is blocking our way; its shadow towers over us. There are low growls and the sound of wet feet hitting stone. Suddenly, we get hit by the smell of rotten fish and mould. We both hold our torches like weapons ready to run. The flamemander! Wilbur steps forwards; I leap back.

Malmander sighting by Vienna SWW

Yesterday evening, the most memorable thing happened. I was taking my dog Maple for her daily walk on the beach. The waves where gently lapping the pebbles and a flock of seagulls flew overhead. There was chill in the air so I warped up warm. I was holding tight my hat as the wind picked up.

Maple was very far behind me playing in the sea, and she had been sniffing around digging up the pebbles. She was jumping around getting caught in old frail fishing nets and stepping on old plastic bottles.

By now the sun was setting over the horizon, a grey cloud floated into view and the wind started to pick up. I stood waiting for Maple to finish by one of the metal pillars holding up the pier, Suddenly I heard a noise a dripping squelching noise in the dead silence of the night.

I slowly backed up eyes fixing on it, I called Maple who was still playing with the fishing nets. Out of the fog a dark hunched figure came into view, its claws made for shredding and its empty eye made to strike fear into its enemies. It made a loud groan its teeth as sharp as a dagger.

I took a few more steps back, It squelched in the water as it took two careful steps. It’s long arms where nearly touching the ground and its body was covered in moss and drenched seaweed. It made a ghostly moan as it stretched its arms, a few scales shinned in the moonlight.

Maple was sprinting over just realising I had called her over as she got closer her eyes where wide staring at it. Getting back to life she started growling at whatever the creature was. The thing started to back away and it sloped back into the water. Had I just seen the Malamander? Where the legends true?

Seven days of a beautiful week by Vienna SWW

Seven days of a beautiful week

On Monday, I found a lonely duck’s feather,
floating through the crisp morning air as elegant as a
ballerina.

On Tuesday, I walked to the Highfields park,
and watched the energetic children play on the emerald grass
and watched the battered play equipment frown.

On Wednesday, I saw a murder of crows
swiftly flying above our local Sainsburys,
I backed up listening to there deafening call.

On Thursday, I touched the silky skin
of a juicy peach, as I picked it off a old
crumbling tree.

On Friday, I felt the warm run
through me as I drank a warm
cup of hot chocolate.

On Saturday, I heard a sly fox
raid our bins as I watched a hedgehog
run away in fear.

On Sunday, I dreamt of a cattle in a field,
a elegant bird singing a magical song
and watched the sunset over the horizon.

Cogheart rewrite by Vienna SWW

Prologue Light Course, gazed out of the Rambo’s window as the golden airship neared closer and closer. He noticed the ships harpoons shining in the sunlight like a newly polished silver plate, ready for action. Suddenly, he heard the roaring of harpoons being fired all around him like a lions growl. The smell of burning gas rushed up his nose as fire flared nearby, he froze with fear. Turning to his master, Light Course barked,” By all that ticks Leo it is time for you to leap! Humans before mechanicals!”

Chapter 1 Slamming the backdoor of Kathrin Begood’s Boarding School, Jessy Harkness sprinted across the playground. No one was in sight so she made a great big racket and mess, turning over all the play equipment. Suddenly, a teacher came out gawping at the mess, Jessy started to run as fast as she could with the teacher hot on her trail. Would she get caught again? Jessy started to climb the school fence as fast as she could. Her hands shaking with fear. Luckily, the teacher could not climb the wire fence instead she went to get the headmistress. Jessy used this time to jump down the fence and run to the woods. Thinking of ways it could have be quicker to escape, she started to listen to the wind, the dripping rain and her black boot’s, squelching in the mud. She found a rather large tree and crouched down behind it.

Reaching into her pocket, Jessy found the familiar crunch of paper. She tensed up in pain reading the letter mouthing each word. She hated reading it but she kept doing it, the dreaded news. Her father, Leo Harkness, was reported missing and his beloved airship, The Rambo destroyed! His last words echoed in Jessy’s head, “Open up and let the past and future reveal.” Many times she had sat on her bed wondering what all this means. Could something worse happen?

Suddenly, there was a squelch and a snap, Jessy span around with a petrified face, Light course came striding out from behind a bush with a smug face on. ” You took a ticking long time to get out of school I expected better from you!” exclaimed Light course, ” Stop telling me off your not my dad!” replied Jessy. ” Just wind me up, not need for a tantrum,” Jessy glared at him and reluctantly wound him up” I used up a lot of energy running from those scallywags.” Light course gave smile of satisfaction as Jessy gave him one more wined. Jessy examined Light course’s white and brown fur and his lightly scorched droopy ears, he had no severe damage, Jessy gave a sigh of relief.

That evening, Jack was amazed to see Jessy and Light Course standing drenched and cold in Golden Alley , Jessy stood there and looked grumpy and sassy as usual. Light Course barked at the top of his lung’s and Jack took his focus back to Jessy.” It means your mum’s locket how did you not work that out,” Jessy elbowed Jack to cut him off because he nearly called her stupid! Jessy remembered the locket her mum used to always wear. It had been passed down the generations of the family, there was a jet black stone inside but a picture of the all the generations of the family where hidden inside the gem. Last time she saw the gem it was on her mums bedside table, before she- Jessy stopped her self from the thought it was too hard to think about her mum.

” He could be right!” Yapped Light Course then carried on to nibble Jack’s shoe. “We need to find a way to get back to Woodcote Manor and get there before some dirty scallywag get there hands on that locket,” exclaimed Jack.

The Shadow Lion by Vienna SWW

The Shadow Lion

Do you believe in wonderful and weird creatures? The shadow lion is one of these weird and wonderful creatures roaming our world today. The shadow lion is a quiet but mischievous creature which I doubt you never heard of before with its clumsy nature. If you hear a clatter nearby I would suspect it is the shadow lion falling over.

Appearance
The shadow lions has thick black fur which protects them from small scratches and cuts .Due to its black fur it can camouflage perfectly into the darkness of the night. The males mane is the Colours of a starry night sky. Furthermore, it large eyes are a emerald colour, to help it see in the dark. The shadow lion is a bit smaller than a lioness but can grow up to the size of a baby elephant. Weirdly, the shadows lion makes a barking noise like a dog but sometimes purrs like a house cat. It has sharp claws, a strong tail and long tall ears. Additionally, the shadow lion has web feet so they are a brilliant swimmer.

Habitat
The shadow lion is one of the only creatures to make it home on the Savanna. Generally, shadow lions dig their tunnels near a river so they never get dehydrated. The shadow lions den is connect by a network of tunnels which normally a clan of shadow lion dig them self’s. Furthermore, some tourist have seen lone shadow lions building their home which is much smaller than a normal clan home. Shadow lions collect the grass from the Savanna because it is the comfiest of the martial nearby. On the other hand, people of the island have said that the shadow lion have been stealing comfy bedding from houses.

Diet
Interestingly, shadow lions mostly eat fish as they are excellent swimmers and it is the easiest food to get nearby. However, shadow lions will walk enormous distances to feed on smaller animals like: River Mice: Rat Snake; Dog Bat; and Leaf owls. Consequently, humans have been taking all the shadow lion food so now they have evolved to eating plants as well, but this is making a massive decline in the amount of shadow lions as quiet a lot of plants are poison to shadow lions.

Catologists have discovered that in the roman times people hunted these animals for their jet black fur and now they are concerned for the safety of these magical animals. so they urge you to help save these animals by donating now.
