Chapter four- Suspense.
After a while, the crew had managed to patch up the vast hole in the deck. Now, they were drifting silently through the sky, sitting on the deck and chatting calmly. The grey clouds had tumbled backwards to reveal warm orange sunshine. Whilst Ozzy, who was now in a very good mood, curled up on the deck chair watching the seagulls fight over food in the sky, Pan perched on the edge of the deck staring vacantly the turquoise ocean splashing calmly below. It was rather enjoyable, after all, Pan couldn’t remember the last time she had been this happy!

All through the long and difficult night, the crew shuffled grumpily around in their cabins. They couldn’t believe how quickly the weather had changed! One minute they were chatting happily on the warm deck, the welcoming sun beaming down on them, and the next, they were being wacked about their beds like cheap pinatas! This was the hardest night they had ever witnessed. Alone in her bed however, Pan was trying to be brave. ‘Oh please be quiet Ozzy!’ she complained as her friend huddled on top of her duvet, whimpering like a wounded puppy. ‘What’s wrong with the thunder? You’re going to wake the crew at this rate!’
‘I b-b-bet that there’s an ancient witch hanging o-o-onto the rigging of the b-b-boat r-r-right now!’ stammered Ozzy, hiding her face in her arms. Pan rolled her eyes and whistled quietly into the shadows. She was calling for Gizmo. Cold winds gripped the ship like a freezing finger, buffeting all the warmth and happiness out of the ship into the howling, crying storm. Ozzy winced. Lightning raked the sky in hostility, screeching it’s fury into the clouds, making its presence known to all. She sprang into the air in terror as Gizmo leapt into the room, (before relaxing and glowering at Pan.) Why was it that she could sense danger? All of a sudden, Ozzy heard a quiet thud, then a tiny gasp. Something silky and ginger was huddled on the wet wooden floor, it was skinny and soft, and its sides were heaving rapidly. A tail flicked and something twitched. Ozzy let out a loud squeal! Was this a dragon’s tail? Pan shielded her eyes with her hand and looked towards the door as the light was flicked on and Captain Sapphire marched into the room. He had obviously heard Ozzy squeal. ‘What’s going on here?’ he demanded, fixing Ozzy with an angry stare, ‘It’s the middle of the night!’
‘Captain Sapphire!’ whispered Ozzy, ‘There’s something on the floor, ‘I think it’s a dragons tail!’ Captain Sapphire peered around Ozzy’s bed and sniggered, ‘It’s just a tiny injured kitten!’ he murmured, bending down to pick up the dinky little thing, ‘I’ll take her to my cabin, hopefully she’ll like it there! In the meantime, you two had better get some sleep! If you don’t, you’ll be utterly miserable in the morning!’ and with that, he marched out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
