The Inferred

You’ve probably all been up in an airship on a calm balmy afternoon, drifting slowly whilst admiring the view below, taking in the stillness and vreezeframing the scenery with our photografting devices.

Remembering how wonderful the scent on the breeze felt, I bet you enjoyed the sound of sproglets playing below and the wuffers barking at the Airship as it glides upon the azure sky without a cloud upon it.  Remember that feeling of admiration as the old “Flancaster” from WW2 flew its remembrance flight underneath your airship whilst sharing the airspace, leaving you with that feeling of pride to be “Rutloanion” through and through. It is said, however, that there are pirates hidden behind many a grey cloud up their!

……

The crew were feeling tired and looking rather worse for wear after a month on board; as the “inferred” flew into unchartered territory, Tommy’s stomach churned as he had a sense of doom looming in the atmosphere.  The foul stench of silted sulphur hung heavily in the air and dark clouds seemed to smog like stiff grey curtains hanging in the sky.   “Look out” screamed Darcey, as she shoved Captain Finn to the other side of the Deck, what had she seen? The “Inferred” seemed to halt as it faltered in mid flight, it then suddenly, without warning fluttered and gasped as the engines seized, Captain Finn stumbled to his feet, rocking from side to side the motion making him feel nauseous, the engine’s now cut, they could hear the sound of large wings flapping steadily, the swish from the wing draft pushing the ship as it glided and was by now losing altitude, Darcey screamed again this time in terror as a claw had wrapped itself around the rudder, the fear grasped her, no sound would come out of her mouth but she was sure she was screaming, Tommy had already watched the creature come towards them through the “Miliscope” and had taken a vreezeframe through the lens, “wow, he thought to himself, what an absolutely Giganticous specimen of Pirate Dragon, it had to be did’nt it? No-one could have anticipated what was to happen next!
