The Magical Emporium

On a fine Saturday morning, Georgia was on her way to the market to get a loaf of bread from the local market. As she approached the market she found something very unusual. The Emporium, it was open. Georgia stared. She had never thought this was possibly going to happen. Georgia looked at the community selling ice-cream and burgers, none of them didn’t seem to notice. The Emporium had never opened the curtains or never turned the sign over to open. She was transfixed with the glistening China plates on display on the front cabinet behind the glass window and in front of the red velvet curtains. She didn’t take another glance at the crowded streets but she went and approached the door.

“Wow.” She muttered under her breath. The room was filled with extraordinary things. She saw out of the corner of her eye a wooden barn owl watching her every move, an elf ear floating in the middle of a tinted blue jar and the same China plates she saw at the front of the shop. Georgia had never seen anything like it. She saw extinct animals stuffed with white fluff, she also spotted something of her own. A necklace, one her mother had before she had passed away. She looked around to see if the owner or any staff was about. She picked up the shining necklace and brought it to the counter. Georgia’s hand went for the bell but she paused and looked at a book beside the till. It opened, Georgia was horrified.

Georgia instantly thought cuddling her mum in her bedroom. A pen, that couldn’t be seen, started scribbling on the piece of paper sown into the book. She recognised the drawing as soon as possible. It was the room she was thinking about earlier, her mother’s bedroom. A door sprouted behind the wooden counter. Without thinking Georgia went for the door and found the room. A man was sat on the bed. “Hello Georgia.” He said quietly. “W-W-who are you?” Georgia nervously asked.

“I am the owner of this Emporium.”
