Payton and the precious locket by Gracie
PAYTON AND THE PRECIOUS LOCKET
CHAPTER 3: The children had been stuck for what felt like a whole century now, Most of the time Danielle was sat with her hand on her head sighing. However Payton was looking around the room for things to help her get out.
The other half of the time, she was poking her head out the window waving and screaming for help at the people she saw in the distance but it was no use. The street was as quiet as a silent mouse. Everyone got spooked after the old ghost story that she definitely didn’t believe in.
About every 5 minutes, Payton would turn back and shout at the useless thing.
“You haven’t even moved since we’ve been trapped, you’re like a statue at this point.” But still Danielle sat moodily doing absolutely nothing about the situation. Payton still didn’t give up, now she was stomping her food as loud as an angry elephant trying to get attention this time. Would the door open? She tried poking a small stick through the hole for a while but it still didn’t budge. Payton kept trying then got annoyed.
“Why can’t you just listen!?” Shouted Payton
Danielle tapped the wall. “See.”
“But of course that wouldn’t work!” Replied Payton angrily
The children sat in complete silence for ten minutes, Payton sat bobbing her head up and down and tapping her fingers in frustration. There seemed to be no way out and that wasn’t even the worst part, Danielle had completely given up. Inside as time ticked it got darker and darker. Outside, the moon was howling like wolves and stars were scattered everywhere.
Just as Payton was dozing off, she heard a clatter outside the window.
“ w o o f” said a struggling animal. Payton and Danielle rushed to the window as fast as a flash and stretched their arms out onto the brown, dirty balcony. “Need a wind up?” Said Danielle Jupiter nodded his head briefly as he fell onto the floor. The so called useless teenage tried to find the cog key then fortunately found it on his back and twisted it anti-clockwise.
Jupiter quickly got recharged and stood up straight. As he was opening his sack, out came a gold key that dropped straight into Payton’s hand. “ Let’s do this “ said the dog stretching his tired legs out getting ready to roll.
Slowly, Payton tried to turn the key but as it was turning she had the feeling something was going to go wrong, she fought that feeling over and over again then. Click. The rusty, metal hatch opened. The children peeked outside to see if anyone was watching. The next minute, they were running down halls and Jupiter was 5 steps ahead leading the way.
Half an hour later, they were in a stable at the old barn. Payton and Danielle were trying to explain where they were trapped and how bad it was. Jupiter was telling them how lucky he was and how he ran through Dr Cartnus’ legs why he was talking. As he was talking Danielle managed to collect firewood and make a lovely, warm fire. They were safe and free for now but where where the steps to kidnapping Jupiter and more importantly where was Janet Gates?
