Octom mander
Octom mander
Prologue
You’ve probably been to Surfing-on-Sea. During summer you probably have tried to eat as much ice cream as you can handle. When you came here there would be paddle boarding lessons, beach volleyball and a Friday fish and chips. You probably stayed at the Seaside Palace Hotel. It’s the kind of place for these things and more… in the summer.
But in the winter you probably stayed indoors because of the freezing cold air. You also wouldn’t be able to bare the frosted fingers and toes. The beach is empty, the streets covered in frosted cars and shops start to close down because of the lack of customers.
Chapter 1
My name is Randal Storm I work and own at the Seaside Palace hotel. I make sure everything is in order and I welcome everyone who comes in. During the summer it is the busiest place in all of Surfing-on-Sea but during the winter not so much it is the emptiest place in our little town. I sleep in one of the en suites in my hotel on the second floor I have a small fireplace, a double bed and a sliding door that leads on to a balcony that looks out to the ocean.
Suddenly I hear a knocking noise. I check the time it is 1am, first I think it comes from the door just thinking there was something going on but then I realise the hotel was empty because it is winter then I heard a voice coming from the window a panicked whisper “please, please. Let me in hurry, hurry” I rush to the window to see a girl standing on the windowsill I quickly open the window before she fell. Immediately she told me ” we need to hide now!”
Before I continue, there is an old story I need to tell you about that legends say happened in our very
town. Long ago there was a creature that roamed around the town during the storms at midnight until the first glints of sun light, its body covered in black apart from its intimidating glowing moon white eyes. It has webbed hands and feet and it is mander a mix of octopus and human it is known to be called the octom mander.
Some people say it was taking food for its self or so that people can starve or others say it is in pain, because of all of the frightening noises it makes but people will hide in their houses when those noises are made.
“Why are we needing to hide” I whisper back.
” I believe that I have seen it” ” come on quickly shut the curtains and hide!”
