My letter to Mum

Dear Mum,

I hope you are well and safe. I miss you millions and think about you non stop. I send my wishes to Dad and hope he will get out of this horrible war soon.

When I got on the train at first it was a bit frightening because I didn’t know where I was going but all the other children were like that too, some younger than me! So don’t worry I was fine. The good thing was I made a friend on the train she’s called: Clover, she’s Mrs Honey’s daughter. The views were amazing but it felt like we were on the train forever! However, we finally got to this big farm house after a few hours. The house was surrounded by forests, fields and nature which was very different from our old house in London. I miss our old home but I also love it here! We have to do a few chores every week like washing up and collecting the eggs and making beds and scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees but it’s so much more safer here! I share a dorm with Clover, Ben and Iris, (they are all really kind to me). But the best thing is there’s a dog called Marley! I love him so much. He’s so playful.

For breakfast we occasionally get eggs but not often. Usually we get porridge or bread, but it’s still warm and tasty. We have to go to bed by 9 because we have to wake up early to do some jobs.

I started my new school a few days ago. I really enjoyed it. This teacher called Mrs Brown thought my art was incredible! Isn’t that good? Anyway, I have to go to bed now sadly. I hope you stay safe and warm. Sending a million hugs.

Speak soon

Cora
