Advice for Eton Mask

Eton Mask’s City Advice

Hi Eton, I was just going to give you some advice on how to make your own city. My first piece of advice is that you must take everyone’s opinion into account. Even if that means changing the plans of the city. You need to try and get everyone to compromise on one or two ideas. You need a lot of very good architects to accomplish your mission. You will need a certain amount of land to build this smashing city. It will need a strong government too. Good luck on this.

Yours Sincerely

Ciaran Moncrieff

Finn Russell’s Bag

Finn Russell’s Bag

I was on a flight going to watch the rugby world cup in France, when I saw that the Scotland squad was on my plane.  I froze in amazement, I just realised that I was about to talk to one of my favourite players, Finn Russell. Instead of talking to him, I thought I might have a rummage through his bag, I found, tickets to the game, a captain’s armband, a passport and a phone. But then I saw there was a secret pocket with something in strange it, I saw what it was froze in terro

Give up your life as a superhero

Dear Mr. Speedoflage,

I am writing to persuade you to give up your life as a difficult superhero.

My first point is that you are not spending enough time with your son. Your wife has to take care of the youngest so your eldest has no time to spend with his parents. Did you know that he is amazing at rugby, I bet you didn’t.

I would also like to argue that you are getting way too stressed. It is not good for you, and you are starting to get tired on your missions which is creating flaws.

Furthermore, I am concerned that you are starting to drift away from your family. Your wife is getting worried and your sons are missing  you.

To build on this concern, you are constantly close to really injuring yourself. On your last mission, a sharp knife cut your hair off it was that close. If it was any closer, it would of taken your head off. You would have died if it wasn’t for an amazing civilian that tackled you out of the way.

I would like point out that you are a good man, and that you shouldn’t be fighting anymore. You should come back to Glasgow Warriors. The team is definitely struggling without you. You were an amazing player and we were winning all the trophies when you were with us.

On the other hand, many people argue that you are the perfect age for saving people. That crime rate has never been higher so you need to get back out there. It is a risky job but you’re the man for it.

It is a hard time for the Glasgow warriors team and for the city. You have to choose between family or fame. You are obviously older and weaker than before, so you are not in condition to keep on saving lives.

The choice is yours but in summary, I think that you should give up being a superhero.

Yours sincerely, Franco Smith (Glasgow warriors manager)

What I found in my teachers cupboard

What I found in My Teachers Cupboard

You will not believe what I found in my teachers cupboard. Before I tell you, you must promise not to tell anyone. It is top secret and I could get in big trouble if he found out I knew. My teacher is a spy! I found out when I was getting my rugby ball out the cupboard when I saw something that chilled me to the bone. Their was a sheet of paper that said, SUCCESFUL SPY. I saw a gun, a special hat and some secret codes.

I made a gold making machine

100-word Challenge

I have just invented the most amazing thing; it is a machine that turns water into gold. Not to brag, but I am already the richest man ever. I have unlimited gold bars and coins and I have recently been testing out making the things like laptops or phones using the gold. Funny thing is everybody wants the machine. I am currently hiding in an underground bunker as the press and journalists are swarming around my house as I type. I am so famous like; everyone just wants my money. I want my mummy.

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The border of the city, which had been built hundreds of years ago, was a huge wall around the whole of Edinburgh. At each corner, there was a letter. N, S, E and W. They all stood for the compass points. The portal was supposed to be at north, but no one had the guts to go there, as there were rumours that the borders were we’re all the dangerous people hang out. But this was much more important than them, so the lion and Duhan continued to make their way toward the north corner.

The moon was breath-taking, and there were sounds that Duhan had never heard. The lion struggled, as he was still wounded. He would rest every so often. Suddenly, they approached the portal.

As they stood in front of the portal, someone started to yell. The game was up. Struggling, the lion continued to make its way up to the portal. A metal stand hung off the wall, shadowed the portal. Duhan, who was still worrying about the yells, could feel himself getting dragged into the portal. A shining sun, which was like reliving summer camp, glowed on the other side.  Then, it disappeared; the blue sky turned into stars; the butterflies turned into fire-flies; the shining sun turned into the magnificent moon.

In a blink of an eye, there were several special agents swarming around, shouting threats at them. Suddenly, they all stopped and stared right at the lion. They seemed to be hypnotised. The lion had his eyes closed but Duhan could feel the lion was working more magic.

“The time has come,” whispered the lion, turning to face Duhan, still with his eyes closed. The portal had changed, instead of the beautiful night sky, it was a universe, it had different galaxies and countless planets. “I will be back, when I am better,” sighed the lion. And out of the blue, he took a giant leap and went through the portal…

…and then floated in the endless universe, swimming elegantly through the giant jacuzzi full of stars. Every movement, there seemed to be more and more stars. There was darkness and light and energy and excitement… and happiness. Eventually, his beautiful body started to disappear and turn into little tiny sparks that turned into stars. Once all that was done, he was gone.

Duhan turned his head, shocked after what he had just witnessed. The agents were all gone, they had ran away like cowards. The sun awoke from its might slumber, and illuminated the beautiful city of Edinburgh. It was a warm summers morning, the sky was blue, the sun was up and the birds started to sing.

The lion would always be in his mind. Duhan felt like a changed person. He felt more confident and stronger. He made his way back to the check point. Duhan held his breath as he went through. He was allowed through and he kept his head down. It felt different.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Duhan woke sweating; the lion continued to snore. A shout came from outside, there were guards arguing, while the rest of the group tried to break down the door to the warehouse. Duhan’s heart started to pound. The leading guard bellowed orders; the lion tossed and turned; Duhan froze.

Shuffling across the dirty floor, Duhan whispered to the wolf to get up. He got up and slowly strode toward Duhan. He gathered up large pieces of old machinery so then they would be impossible to find. They all went under the little fort that Duhan had made so then it would be impossible to find them.

Suddenly, the door swung open and there was sounds of marching footsteps all over the building. Then there was silence, it was like the guards were listening for the slightest syllable. Mist hovered; shadows moved; voices echoed; footsteps ran. Duhan could feel the lion was shivering with fear. He was scared to but they had to wait this out.

It seemed like they were waiting for hours, but it was probably only twenty minutes by the time the guards left. It was night time, and the stars shone and the moon beamed. The streets were dark and mysterious figures lurked in the shadows. The lion suddenly spoke, but when Duhan looked at him, the voice continued but the lions mouth wasn’t moving. Their minds were communicating with each other. The lion explained that they had to find a gateway. This gateway would take them back to his world. A world where he is not hunted.

Duhan thought that the gateway would just be walking through a certain gait, but the lion told him otherwise. This gateway looked more like a portal. Nervously, Duhan approached the lions wound, he winced every time he looked at it. Duhan was told that the portal was right at the border of Edinburgh. There were big walls there, and that’s where all the thugs hang out. It was a dangerous journey. Duhan didn’t know if he would make it.

Duhan was worried that his family would think he is dead, and if he returned they would think he was a ghost. But he couldn’t do anything about that. The lion and the boy started to make their journey toward the border. They were locked in a deadly game of hide and seek.

If my dog could talk

If my dog could speak.

The other day, I was taking my dog on a walk along the beach, he was making a lot of strange sounds. It was like he was muttering under his breath and talking to himself. I stopped just outside my house to see if I could make out any words, but by then he had stopped. When I got home, I went straight into the back room and started to watch TV. As I started to relax, Hugo started this muttering thing again. Then he said this, “Switch the channel over, this programme’s so boring!”

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Outside, the sun shines like a lightbulb and there is not a cloud in sight. Inside, Duhan struggled to find a good place to hide, the run-down, old abandoned warehouse was all broken and dirty. Parts of shattered glass lay on the floor, walls were collapsed and the floors were covered with dust. To his dismay, he realised he was trapped. There was no way out.

In the doorway, the dangerous man stood still and stared into Duhan’s soul, flashing a knife at him…

…but suddenly, something crashed through the wall and stood between Duhan and the man. Duhan realised that the animal was a lion, golden fur, bold green eyes, its legs looked as strong as tree trunks and its teeth were so sharp, it could pierce anything.

It was huge, the biggest Duhan had ever seen, it was death staring the man with the knife, the lion obviously knew that the knife was a threat as he continued to growl and stare at the man, who sprinted away, like a lightning bolt crying for his mum.

The lion turned around and lay in front of Duhan, he realise that the lion was bleeding. Duhan ran his hand down the back of the lion, calming the graceful but ferocious animal. He could smell the scent of sand and he could feel the heat of the desert.

They stared at each other, feeling a connection already starting to get ready, they seemed to like each other as well, or at least Duhan thinks they do. The tigers eyes looked like they had kindness, but also they had a chunk of sadness.

Suddenly, the lion spoke to Duhan, “Please help me,” groaned the animal desperately, “We must find the portal.” Its voice was soft, but it had a stern side to it as well.

Duhan slowly nodded, but he was confused. He didn’t know what the lion meant, but he would protect this animal, just like it protected him. “They will come for me again, I can’t be taken away” the animal exclaimed, there was a sound of worry in his voice.

Half an hour later, Duhan and the lion were staring out on Edinburgh city center, the lion went to rest in the middle of the room and Duhan kept watch, it had been a long day.
