Mrs. Trunchbull

As soon as dull-faced Mrs. Trunchbull wandered into the class 6, the vibrant, lively room instantly seemed to turn dismal and dreary. She was plump with an unfriendly smile and bulging, brown eyes. “Quieten down you little pests!” shushed the teacher, “I will not allow any misbehavior!”.

The Cupid Fly

The Cupid Fly

The Cupid Fly is a remarkable variety which has lots of bizarre features that I’m sure you would want to know about. Scientists have devoted their time studying the Cupid Fly.  To recognize this lethal, but astounding insect, take notes from the paragraphs below.

Appearance

The Cupid Fly is known for its eagle like wings which are coated with vibrant- red fur and glistening silver polka dots. Scientists were mesmerized by its twisted, love heart antenna’s which quite suddenly hypnotized them into a deep sleep. Its auburn strand of hair stands on the top of its head when it is in danger. BEWARE: if the Cupid Fly opens its mouth its dripping saliva will trickle onto you, and it will trap you in its slimy spit. So, run and never look behind you.

Deadly features

This fatal insect holds a bow and arrow which contains venom which will be injected into your body. If this ever happens to you make sure you contact a doctor urgently. Your legs might feel completely  numb and you may experience excruciating migraines. Unfortunately, the Cupid Fly has another deadly feature. If you look into its spellbinding love heart eyes, you will instantly go unconscious and may even go into a coma.

Positives Features

Now let’s focus on the positive side of the Cupid Fly. If you’re in luck, the Cupid fly may infuse love into your soul, so you are not always dull and unhappy! It also can make someone fall madly in love with you so you’re not always alone and isolated. Don’t always judge a book by its cover, because the Cupid Fly could make your life a pleasant place.

The getaway

Chapter 4- The getaway

Footsteps were slowly starting to trail towards her, and Ella began to panic. Her eyes scanned the room for a way to escape, but there was only a murky hole which smelt like sewage and decomposing food. Ella looked behind her and she could see a dark silhouette in the distance. Her feet had turned numb, and she felt like she couldn’t move.  Then everything started to turn black. Ella was hallucinating.

She blinked her eyes frantically then looked up and saw a frail, old woman with crooked teeth standing over her dauntingly. Ella let out a deafening shriek which echoed around the whole room.  Ella darted towards the hole. She took a deep breath and jumped down. The tough ground scratched her thighs, and she noticed the excruciating cuts slowly forming on her legs. She spotted a vibrant door in the distance. Relieved, Ella grabbed the door handle which (she hoped) lead to the Emporium. As she stepped inside, Ella felt the velvet red carpet.  Dabbing her wounded knee with her cardigan, she brushed away the tears that were developing in her eyes. She bandaged her leg up, like a dedicated nurse would do for an injured patient.

Luciano saw Ella curled up like an injured hedgehog on the floor. He dropped the metallic vase he was painting and glanced at Ella’s knee. “What has happened to you? He questioned. Ella pointed to her knee and sobbed at the sight of it. “My goodness, I better get you a plaster!” Gently, Luciano placed the plaster on Ella’s knee. “How was your world?” Luciano remarked. Ella didn’t have the energy to speak so she put her thumbs up and sighed. “I think you have had enough for today!” Luciano chuckled.  Ella nodded her head and strolled to the door. “Come again another day! “Luciano said holding the door open. Ella strolled outside tugging her cardigan other her arms due to the chilliness outside.

The Dilemma

Chapter 3

In Ella’s world, she saw colossal palm trees which were filled with ripe coconuts with a solid shell and a milky filling, rock pools; clear and still, and a small shack which looked welcoming and snug.  She picked up a rich mocktail which put a warm smile on her face. She took her trainers of and felt the soft sand race through her feet. As she reached the door handle which led to the shack, she jumped with delight. She was thrilled by the sight of her dream home. It had lit up candles that smelt like gingerbread cookies and a wooden staircase which trailed on what seemed like forever; her bedroom was her favorite though. It was lined with a floral carpet and her duvet smelt like expensive perfume; something was missing though. She wished for a friend who could guide her through hard times, laugh with her, and do fun things together.

Suddenly she heard a thudding sound coming from downstairs. Ella’s eyes widened and her hands became sweaty and moist. Ella rushed into her bedroom and hid behind her silky pillows. Ella heard footsteps coming up the stairs. At this point Ella knew she was not alone. Ella reached for the window handle and without thinking, leapt out the window. With a thump, she landed on the floor; luckily, she wasn’t harmed. She hopped up and dashed towards the door she entered in.  The door had completely vanished. Ella stopped dead in her tracks. What would she do? At that moment she felt a cold breath on her neck. She was trapped.

The Room which made Wonders

The Room which made Wonders

The slight man gestured for Ella to shake his hand. “My name is Luciano and I’m honored to meet you,” spoke Luciano in a calm voice. Ella stepped back uncomfortably and gave a forced smile.

“You are welcome to explore around my shop, but I demand you not to look in my book,” stated Luciano in a slightly louder tone. Ella nodded her head. In a flash, Luciano had vanished behind a vibrant curtain.

Ella was mesmerized by the lively doors which continued to go on and on and on down the corridor. Why are there so many doors? Ella had inherited a rebellious trait from her dad and decided to pick up the book. Her eyes were focused on the detailed pictures of new designs for doors. Without thinking, she picked up a pen and started sketching a brief idea of her dream room. She drew a sunny paradise filled with palm trees rising over you and tropical drinks presented professionally. Ella was delighted with the effort she had put into her art.

Without any notice, a midnight black magpie soared above her head. Ella’s heart fluttered with shock. She dropped thick book on the floor which made a raucous noise. The magpie gestured to Ella to follow it. Ella’s hands became sweaty as they reached a door which said, “The Sunny Paradise”. As she twisted the handle her hands started trembling intensely. The door creaked open, and sunlight beamed through the crack in the door. It was just as she imagined it but even better. Ella’s eyes were gleaming with delight and her mouth was wide open in pure shock and exhilaration.

The Mystical Emporium

The Mystical Emporium

Prologue

There are some wonders in the world which are so marvelous and enchanting, and you don’t know when they are going to appear. The Mystical Emporium was just like that. Even though you could smell the aroma of delectable cookies baking in the oven at Christmas. Even though you could hear unique birds singing in the morning. Even though you could see tangy sweets stacked up on every shelf. Even though you could hear classical music playing on repeat. Even though you can see the glistening chandeliers turned on at night.  Even though you can smell freshly baked donuts.

But no one entered, until one unexpected day, Ella fearlessly stepped into the shop.

Chapter 1- The day the door was opened

Ella was always a mischievous girl who was full of inquisitiveness and excitement. Her mother always said that curiosity was a bad trait and that it would get her into to trouble someday. But Ella never listened. One dull, foggy afternoon, Ella was walking down Leafway Road and spotted something bizarre about The Mystical Emporium. The heavy oak door was slightly open. Ella stopped in her tracks. Slowly and steadily, she opened the door, not knowing what would come next. A bright light shone in her eyes almost blinding her.

Everywhere she looked, everything was packed with wonders and goodies. Luminous chandeliers hung from the dazzling ceiling, lighting up the whole room. Magnificent antiques where up on display. Fragile china dolls and stuffed teddy bears sat up staring into your eyes. You could smell the delicious food baking in the oven.  But one specific object stood out to Ella. There was a worn-out leather book placed delicately on a glass table. Ella eagerly picked up the book and read out the title. “The Enchanted Tales,”. Ella flicked through the pages and read them inquisitively. “What do you think you’re doing reading my book?” spoke an old man irritably. Ella stood a still as a statue and her face turned the color of a ghost. “N-nothing,” said Ella in a frightened manner. The petite old man had a wrinkled face and a long-matted beard. Ella noticed a midnight black coloured magpie perched on his shoulder. The man shook his head critically and pointed his skeletal finger at Ella’s face and hissed, “Little girls like you shouldn’t be looking at my belongings!”

The World of Wonders

I would take the sound of

the gentle, bitter rain dripping on your windowsill at night,

the sound of unique birds chirping enthusiastically in the trees

and the kettle boiling vigorously.

I would take the taste of

refreshing ice cream on a warm summer’s day,

the first sip of tea in the morning

and the taste of a sweetened donut for dessert.

I would take the smell of

fresh chips filling the air,

the smell of shampoo soaking in your hair

and a roast dinner making your mouth water.

I would take the sight of

the stars glistening in the moonlight,

people getting into the festive spirit

and stepping into your garden full of crackling crystals and cold winter snow.

I would take the touch of

a unique shell placed in the palm of my hand,

the soft sand racing through my fingers

and the feel of making snow angles in the snow.

The Mystical Land

The Mystical Land

Go and open the violet door,

maybe you will find an aubergine shedding its skin,

grapes partying,

or a bitter sweet melting in your mouth.

Go and open the rose door,

maybe you will find cherries chanting,

hearts pumping,

or maybe ladybugs soaring through the air.

Go and open the coffee door,

perhaps you will find an enormous bar of scrumptious dark chocolate,

a grizzly bear creating a piece of imaginative art,

or even a crumbling acorn positioned on the floor.

Go and open the lime door,

maybe you will see a four-leaf clover longing for good luck,

a grasshopper bobbing up and down in the long green grass,

or even luscious cucumber gossiping to its friends.

Go and open the cyan door,

maybe you will see the gleaming blue river waving to you,

a dolphin gliding towards you,

or even a tear dripping down some one’s eye.
