LO: I am learning to use events in a story to sequence my writing.

Chapter One – Escape to the mountains

As quickly as they could, the three rabbits ( Chris, Mia and Pip) ran into the bedroom searching for supplies to escape to the hidden burrow in the mountains. They gathered weapons to protect them from the gorm, food to keep their hunger satisfied on the journey, clothes to keep them warm and maps to guide them to their destination. They were about to head into the escape route but something had just entered the room they were in. Suddenly, they all turn around to see an elderly rabbit. Soon enough the rabbit gave them advice on how they must reach the stone burrows which had been made by ancient rabbits long ago.

They entered the tunnel after thanking the elderly rabbit. Their paws ached after a while of stepping on the damp, murky mud. They were all cramped and the darkness of the tunnel made them cautious. There was no light, just the sound of squelching mud after every footstep and the smell of dead fish. Pip (their youngest sibling) noticed light at the end of the tunnel and rushed towards it.

The three rabbits clambered out the tunnel. Pip was falling asleep and climbed on a pile of leaves to rest while the others built a shelter out of sticks then covered it in moss and leaves to make it more weather proof. Will they be safe or has the Gorm followed them?

Chapter Two – Lonely marshes

The next morning the three rabbits packed their food, clothes and weapons and checked the map to find their next destination. The den they built for the night had been flattened due to the storm but thankfully no one was hurt. Clouds hovered overhead and droplets started to fall. Although there was no sight of the brutal and heartless Gorm, none of them felt safe.

They start wandering down a deserted path, the ground beneath them was damp and sandy. Only the sound of rain broke the silence of the forest. Unfortunately the cold bit harshly and the wind howled and cried like a banshee, yet still the trio had miles to go until arriving at their destination. Smells of sawdust and moss levitated in the air around them. A strange taste of gunpowder lingered in their mouths and a feeling of fear crowded around them.

At last the forest view began to fade into the thick fog and the marshes stood in front of them. The band squealed with excitement! But that excitement soon faded away when they realised there was only a mix of rust and debris layered in the mud. A thick watery substance flowed under their paws for what seemed to be miles. Run down huts and sheds surrounded them. Suddenly, an ear piercing noise sounded like a siren above them. Caw! Caw! A crow covered in rusty metal chains flew above them, feathers like knives and a beak of steel. They knew the Gorm was near…

Chapter Three – A little nightmare

The three little rabbits ran through the swamp. Deep inside them the fear started to rise and their hearts were beating fast. However, the three knew they had to reach the city or else they would become the Gorms lunch!

After a while they stopped to catch their breath. Luckily, they had reached the edge of the city and found a bench to rest on for a few minutes. Chris (the oldest) had found a wagon filled with radishes and started loading a brown, leather sack with them while the others found a brick house with boarded windows. Once the group had been reunited they lit a fire that ignited easily. Little did they know the Gorm doesn’t leave an animal uncaptured.

A few hours  had passed and soon enough the three rabbits were fast asleep. The next morning the band awoke and peered through the small gaps in the boarded windows. Outside the air was still but cold. Inside the remaining flames of last night’s fire was enough to keep them warm for a few more hours before going out. It took a while for them to realise the silence was unexpected and suspicious. They opened the old, oak door which made an unbearably, high pitched SCREECH! On the other side the only sound was the cawing of the crows above. The streets were empty, only clothes remained on benches and in cars.”Look!” exclaimed Mia, Chris and Pip darted over to find a red liquid stained into a polo shirt laying on the sidewalk. However, walking outside was a mistake.

Suddenly, there was a loud CLUNK! CLANK! CLANK!

“Gorm!” cried Mia “There here! Run!” In an attempt to escape they discovered they couldn’t. Three giants encased in metal chunks surrounded the trio. “What now?” questioned Chris. The Gorm was taking steps closer.

“I don’t know!” answered Mia. All of a sudden, the Gorm scooped up the rabbits and flung them into a cage. The impact of hitting the steel bars of the cage caused them to feel dizzy and confused, soon enough they fell unconscious unaware of what was going to happen next…

Chapter Four – Rewind

The three rabbits awoke parched and hungry waiting for sound or movement. The cold, rusty bars looked bent and curvy. None of them knew where they were or how they’d got there. “Hey!” yelled a voice from the cage beside them. “Who may you be?” the voice questioned. There was a long silence and for a moment they couldn’t remember but then a loud Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! Filled the room. A dark figure entered the cave of prison cells. The figure was wrapped in rust and possibly ten thousand different keys hung from an ancient piece of cloth attached to a leather belt.

The figure began unlocking each and every individual cell until all inmates had gone to the cafeteria. The trio had no clue what was going on yet still they tagged along.

“Where are we?” aske Chris curiously,

“I don’t know!” explained Mia. The three entered the cafeteria in horror. It was filthy. Cobwebs filled the ceiling along with a sea of spiders. The smell was worse than vile. They took a seat and were almost immediately served. The food looked worse than the whole prison combined and now they had to eat it. One spoonful at a time a rotten turnip, carrot and potato mix filled their little mouths. They could not stay much longer. After a while, the darkness took over the sky and the plan was about to take place. “ Ok, now!” said Mia

Chris and Mia shoved Pip through the gaps in the bars. Pip, remembering the plan, began asking every inmate in the cell block.

“Come with me! Come with me!” Pip exclaimed.

After a few minutes, the whole cell block  began ripping through the bars of their cages. The ruckus of the tunnels being dug caused three of the Gorms guards to come rushing into the room, but it was too late the tunnel had been dug and all the prisoners ran wild!

Years later the three had found the burrow and over time more rabbits had nestled there too. The story of the three rabbits went down in history along with the gorm. Or did it…
