The dog tree
The dog tree
My leaves were darker than
a shadow but in the summer
they turn red.
My trunk is stronger than
a rhino horn. My roots bend
and twist like cooked spaghetti.
My branches are like swords but
some of them come out like rats’ tails.
My bark is like a blanket all over me.
It keeps me warm and snuggly.

A lovely poem, Tommy. I like the simile of the bark being like a warm and comforting blanket.
